Description
Are you looking for an adventure, beautiful nature and some important work?
We’ve taken on a remote 100-acre forest farm in Northern Sweden where we have initiated a rewilding/retreat centre and possibly potentially an off-grid community in the longer-term future. We are at the birthing stage of the project. Ask us for our website link
We are holding a training retreat here in August from 3-17th and are looking for ideally two friends/couple to come and support with cooking and helping out a little bit with looking after the 2/3 children who will be coming with parents.
You would be free to explore this beautiful area in your free time and/or join in with the community retreat experience too.
We have a small team of volunteers joining us in June/July to help with various tasks and have a few more places still.
There are a variety of jobs to help us with getting set up: currently we very much need help with processing timber for next years firewood. We are very much interested in community and working collaboratively, so you would also learn a little bit about living & working in this way. Alongside preparing logs there would be general maintenance work and DIY mostly, and for those that like to, a chance to prepare shared meals.
Accommodation is in a guest cottage with a kitchen and lounge area, walking distance to a vast, beautiful lake for wild swimming (or in winter, ice-baths!), mountain walks (and ski-ing) and stunning forest on the doorstep. We can also accommodate anyone who may wish to come in a live-in vehicle or camp.
We are friendly, happy to share our experience and activities, good food and chats around the fire outside. We like to welcome adaptable, conscientious people who enjoy wild nature, good conversations, healthy food and an interest in community living.
This is a remote place! We can offer transport to/from the nearest big town, which is Östersund. There are no shops or services close by, but there is a hotel with a bar/restaurant and a campsite with a ski slope/bike park.
Accommodation and food will be provided in exchange for 20-25 hours a week per person, and you will have the chance to immerse yourself in the beautiful local landscape.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We offer english conversation and shared meals together. Usually we are hosting a group of volunteers and support you with skills to collaborate well together. You'll learn about our emerging land-based resilience project and be able to support the development from these early stages. We are based in a remote and small mountain community in sweden and sometimes help with local neighbourhood projects too, so you may have the opportunity to help out in our wider community.
Help
There are a variety of jobs to help us with getting set up: odd repairs to buildings and light outdoor work whilst we figure out what else needs to be done. Most important right now is to start processing timber for next years logs.

Accommodation is in a shared guest cottage with kitchen and lounge area. There are 4 x double rooms in the cottage, two of which are bunks. You'll likely share with other workaways. Sometimes you may be accomodated in a guest bedroom in the farmhouse ig cottage is being rented out. We are walking distance to a vast beautiful lake for wild swimming (or currently ice-baths!), mountain walks and mountain biking (and ski-ing) and stunning forest on the doorstep. We can also accommodate anyone who may wish to come in a live-in vehicle or camp.
What else ...
We are located in ANSÄTTFJÄLLEN - Sweden's Alaska. This is a stunningly beautiful and wild area - mountains, waterfalls, canyons, lakes and endless forest. We have local ski slopes and cross-country ski-ing on our land, nearby dog-sled and snowmobiling. Summer is incredible for hiking, fishing and lake-swimming! We have a boat you can use on the lake, skis etc.

Our second longest Workaway project, and our 19th, by the way. We spent 31 nights at this beautiful place, and it was definitely not enough. Working 4 to 5 hours daily according to your skills with free weekends means plenty of free time to explore the nature around: lakes, forest, and gravel roads all around. If you're… read more
Nick and Justine were super welcoming. I arrived with a bunch of other volunteers and we were greeted with a delicious candle-lit meal on our first evening and given everything we needed to settle in.
