Description
Welcome to our Real-Life Ranch Adventure – Not a Fairytale Farm! 🇮🇪
Hey there, lovely potential Workawayers 👋
Before you send us 10 messages in 2 weeks asking things we’ve already explained… please read this carefully. We promise it’s worth it!
⸻
⚠️ Important upfront notes (because honesty matters here!):
• This is NOT a horse-riding center. You won’t be galloping across Irish hills every day – sorry!
• Winters in Ireland are not “lush and green.” It’s cold, wet, mucky, and often straight-up miserable. This place sometimes feels more like a dark thriller than a postcard.
• If you’re looking for a free holiday or an excuse to avoid work, this is not the place for you. If you’re genuinely helpful, curious, and proactive – you’re our kind of human!
• I (Pola )have MS (Multiple Sclerosis). But let me be super clear – I do not need help with personal care like bathing, feeding or using the toilet. If I can manage this ranch and live fully with a chronic illness, then someone healthy who’s serious about Workaway can definitely handle it too. No excuses.
⸻
🏡 Who we are
We’re a family of 3 (humans!) living in our dream home – a cozy 2.5-acre mini-ranch in a peaceful village in County Wexford. We moved here from Dublin in 2021 and haven’t looked back.
We’re both architects working full-time from home – not farmers by profession, but passionate about countryside living and self-sustainability.
⸻
🐶 Who else lives here
• 6 adorable (and muddy) dogs
• 2 independent cats
• A flock of chickens and ducks
• One 7-year-old Irish Cob named Frodo (yes, he’s magical)
That makes 30 animals total, all part of our extended furry & feathery family.
⸻
🛠️ What we need help with
This is not a resort – you will actually work. In return, we offer real experiences, food, and comfy accommodation.
Help might include:
• Animal care (feeding, cleaning, cuddling… in that order)
• Gardening and seasonal tasks
• General maintenance & small building projects (like patios or sheds)
• House chores (and yes, cleaning up after yourself too!)
• Cooking (especially if you’re Italian 😄)
If you’re proactive, reliable, and up for learning new skills – you’ll get a ton of trust, fun, and extras like horse riding (if you’re helpful), occasional road trips, and maybe a bonfire with wine and music.
⸻
🔑 What we expect from you
• Good spoken English (we’ll ask for a short video intro or live chat)
• Initiative – don’t wait to be told what to do
• Independence – we can’t babysit adults
• Respect for animals, people, and property
• A sense of humor and love for a bit of chaos
We’re not here to mother anyone, host people waiting for visa extensions, or provide a “3-month stay to practice English” for those who never wanted to live in the countryside. Be real with us, and we’ll be real with you.
⸻
💬 Language
• English: Fluent
• Polish: Fluent
(Yes, you can practice both!)
⸻
🛏️ Accommodation
You’ll stay in a comfy camper with:
• Heating
• Fresh bedding
• Wi-Fi
• Toilet, bathroom & kitchen access
• Food included
⸻
📍 Location
• Ballindaggin – 2.5 km away
• Enniscorthy – 10 km
• Wexford – 35 km
• Dublin – 130 km
• Kilkenny, Carlow, Waterford – 50–60 km
P.S. Please have travel insurance – better safe than sorry.
P.P.S. No drugs. Just don’t.
⸻
👑 Final warning for the posh crowd
If you plan to bring brand-new white sneakers, designer coats, or expect spa days with horses… this is not that kind of experience. One of our dogs will jump on you at the gate. Consider that your welcome gift.
⸻
🧡 TL;DR:
This is a real Irish countryside experience. It’s muddy, a bit chaotic, sometimes cold and tough… but full of heart, animals, fun, and freedom. If you’re happy, hardworking, and human (in the best sense of the word) – we’d love to hear from you

🌍 Cultural Exchange – What You’ll Get Out of It
We are both fluent in Polish and English, and we work as architects (not farmers!) so our lifestyle mixes creativity, countryside living, and flexible thinking. We can offer:
• Insights into Irish and Polish culture
• Real-life experience in rural living
• Skills in animal care, DIY, and self-sufficient homesteading
• A chance to practice English (or Polish) in daily conversations
• Guidance on architecture and design, if you’re interested in our profession
• A warm, slightly chaotic but always open-minded home
If you’re the kind of person who values real experiences, teamwork, and laughs in the mud – you’ll have a great time.Help
⸻
🧹 Details about the Stay – What You’ll Be Doing
Here’s what kind of help we usually need – it’s varied, seasonal, and based on what’s happening around the ranch. Don’t worry, we’re not slave drivers 😉 but we do value effort and initiative!
🔧 General Maintenance (Inside & Outside)
• Keeping things clean and tidy around the property – house, garden, stable, chicken coop.
• It’s not daily heavy-duty cleaning, just keeping things in order so the place doesn’t turn into a jungle or a disaster zone.
🍳 Helping Around the House
• Occasionally helping with cooking (unless you’re Italian, then it’s every day 😁).
• Cleaning after yourself is non-negotiable – if you’re an adult, we assume you know the drill!
🌿 Gardening
• Basic gardening like weeding, watering, and taking care of our green space.
• Helping us keep the garden healthy and happy.
🔨 Small Building Projects (Just for Us)
• From time to time we work on small DIY projects like:
• Building a garden patio
• Finishing an extension
• General improvements here and there
No need to be a pro – just a good attitude and willingness to learn go a long way!Languages spoken
English: Fluent
Polish: FluentAccommodation
Camper + all facilities like hot water, fresh bed linen, heating, wc, free access to Wi-Fi

🎒 What Can You Do in Your Free Time?
When the animals are fed and the tools are down, it’s time to enjoy rural Ireland!
• Local walks and hikes – we’re surrounded by peaceful hills, fields, and woodland.
• Visit Enniscorthy (10 km) – a lovely historic town with cafés, shops, castle, and pubs.
• Weekend trips to Wexford, Kilkenny, or Carlow (all within 30–60 minutes).
• We sometimes do spontaneous trips – you’re welcome to join if there’s space in the car.
• Relax with a book, music, or join us for a movie night, bbq, or chat over a glass of wine 🍷
You’ll have time to rest, explore and enjoy the countryside – just remember the animals need care every day, including weekends!A little more information

He was straightforward, he made funny video about himself straight away, he didn’t wait and took the challenge in his own hands so quick so we decided to invite him.
Of course he wasn’t familiar with the countryside tasks as I expected but whatever he was shown what to do - he would do with great attitude… read more
