    Description

I live in a lovely valley in the South of Kerry.
I have a large garden- both wild and domestic with a poly tunnel.
I keep household pets (cats and dogs) and poultry (chickens, ducks and geese).
My area is wonderful for anyone who likes nature, as I am surrounded by Kerry Way hiking ways and 14 km away from the ocean.
My dogs are happy to meet new people and alway up for a walk around the area, while the cats love cuddles- especially if you feed them.

I am knowledgeable in gardening as my husband was a herticultist and taught me a lot. So I can teach you about gardening, trees, vegetables and flowers while you are with me.
I would love to show workawayers the local archeological sights, such as the historic forts and monasteries. On top of that I can tell you about the historic development of the area, since me and my husband helped keep the area alive.
If someone would be more interested in the natural beauty of South Kerry then the surrounding mountains with their hiking trails are perfect for them. Additionally I could show you the lakes that are in the area and the Atlantic beach and cliffs, which are some of the finest sights in Ireland.
I am a speaker of Irish and could help you with your pronunciation and tell you about the history behind the towns names, folklore and rural living.

    Help

There is always some gardening to do, such as weeding in the polytunnel, watering pots etc.
Pet care includes feeding the animals in the morning and evening. The cats are doing fine on their own- unless they want attention. The dogs would appreciate a walk at all times and someone playing with them, by throwing a ball. Sporty people can take at least one of them on a run around the area.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You would be staying in a room in my house with the standard furniture (bed, a chair, etc, outlets for your electronics). You would have your own bathroom, unless someone else is staying with me.
Food will be provided both from the garden (if in season) and from shops.

    What else ...

There is a community bus close to my house (only once or twice a week), otherwise there are bikes available. I am willing to drive you if needed. The public bus goes every other hour (7-20) from the nearby town.

    Can possibly accept pets

Dogs only if they are very well trained. As I have free range ducks, geese and hens. They can not be aggressive with cats, as I have several and have to be able to be friendly with other dogs. If you want to bring your pet, please discuss it with me first.
