    Description

This is a social circus under a big top, bringing art, play, education, and community participation to neighbourhoods, small towns, and places where children, young people, and families have fewer opportunities to learn, connect, and grow.

Our mission is to transform overlooked spaces and communities affected by educational poverty into vibrant, welcoming environments where everyone feels they belong. Through the power of social circus, we create opportunities for learning, meaningful relationships, personal growth, and stronger, more inclusive communities.

Just as a circus tent can rise in the middle of an urban neighbourhood or a small village square, It brings colour, energy, and new possibilities, turning ordinary spaces into places of participation, discovery, and community life.

For us, circus is much more than entertainment. It is an educational tool that breaks down barriers, promotes inclusion, and creates meaningful human connections. Every activity becomes an opportunity to build self-confidence, encourage cooperation, develop creativity, and strengthen a sense of belonging.

We believe that communities grow stronger when every person is recognised, valued, and given the opportunity to participate. This is why our work goes beyond teaching circus skills: we use circus as a universal language that empowers people, celebrates diversity, and inspires positive social change.

    ---

    ### Cultural Exchange: Learning Together

Cultural exchange is an essential part of the volunteering experience. Every volunteer brings artistic skills, personal experiences, and different perspectives that enrich our educational community and create opportunities for mutual learning.

Throughout their journey, volunteers will learn and apply methodology, transforming their social circus skills into educational tools that promote inclusion, active participation, and community development. They will discover how to design inclusive activities, adapt circus exercises to the needs of different participants, and work alongside the educational team while respecting roles, responsibilities, organisational procedures, and educational and safety standards.

The exchange provides an opportunity to explore different educational approaches, artistic practices, and cultural perspectives, encouraging learning through dialogue, cooperation, and shared experiences. Volunteers are invited not only to share their own knowledge and skills but also to embrace new ideas and working methods, actively contributing to the educational goals of the cooperative.

By working closely with educators, tutors, and fellow volunteers, participants will strengthen a wide range of transferable skills, including teamwork, intercultural communication, group facilitation, adaptability, problem-solving, and leadership through collaboration.

The experience will also help volunteers understand the importance of following organisational procedures, respecting safety protocols, and recognising that meaningful educational relationships are at the heart of every activity. By the end of their placement, participants will have expanded both their professional and personal competences, gaining a deeper understanding of how social circus can serve as a universal language for inclusion, empowerment, and positive community change.

    ## Volunteer Handbook

    ### Welcome

Joining means choosing to place your artistic skills at the service of people.

This experience will introduce you to our organizational culture, our educational approach, and the role every volunteer plays within our community. We believe that circus is much more than a performance: it is a powerful educational tool that creates opportunities for inclusion, personal growth, and meaningful relationships.

We are delighted to welcome you to our team.

    # Who We Are

This is a social cooperative that uses **Social Circus** as an educational, inclusive, and community-building methodology.

Our activities are designed for children, teenagers, people with disabilities, families, and local communities. Through circus arts, we create safe and welcoming environments where everyone can discover their strengths, develop new skills, and participate actively, regardless of age, background, or ability.

Our mission is not simply to teach circus techniques, but to use circus as a way to promote participation, inclusion, confidence, cooperation, and personal development.

    ---

    # Who Can Become a Volunteer

We welcome volunteers who already have practical experience in at least one Social Circus discipline, including:

    Juggling
    Balance disciplines
    Clowning
    Acrobatics
    Aerial Circus

Technical circus skills are the starting point of your journey with us.

Our role is not to teach circus techniques from the beginning, but to support artists and practitioners in transforming their existing skills into educational tools through the methodology.

    ---

Technical ability alone does not define a volunteer.

What makes the difference is the ability to transform circus techniques into opportunities for learning, inclusion, and human connection.

Every activity is adapted to the needs, abilities, and pace of the participants. Our educational approach promotes:

    Active participation
    Autonomy
    Self-confidence
    Cooperation
    Mutual respect
    Personal expression

Success is never measured by perfect execution of a trick, but by the positive experience each participant lives during the activity.

    ---

    # The Role of a Volunteer

Being a volunteer means contributing your time, skills, and sense of responsibility to the community.

    Volunteers are expected to:

    Respect the educational methodology.
    Work collaboratively within the team.
    Follow organizational procedures.
Maintain high educational and safety standards.
Support the objectives and values of the cooperative.

Every volunteer plays an important role in creating a positive, welcoming, and inclusive environment.

    ---

    # The Role of the Tutor

Every new volunteer is supported by an experienced tutor during the first stage of their journey.

    The tutor helps volunteers to:

    Understand the methodology.
    Integrate into the team.
    Receive constructive feedback.
    Develop educational and relational skills.
Gain confidence in working with participants.

The tutoring process is designed to support both personal and professional growth.

    ---

Every educational relationship begins with listening.

Working with children, young people, people with disabilities, and families requires empathy, patience, flexibility, and respect for individual differences.

Activities should always be adapted to the needs of the group rather than expecting participants to adapt to the activity.

physical and emotional safety always come before technical performance.

Our goal is not to create better performers, but to help people discover their potential through positive experiences.

    ---

    # Becoming Part

Joining means becoming part of an educational community.

Your artistic skills become tools for building relationships, encouraging inclusion, and creating positive social change.

Together, we believe that circus can inspire confidence, strengthen communities, and open new opportunities for everyone.

Thank you for choosing to walk this journey with us.

    Welcome to

    Benvenuto in

    Entrare in
significa entrare in una comunità educativa.
