  Description

  It's a pleasure to welcome you to our home. We're a small family of four humans (my husband, my two daughters, and me), six dogs, and a cat for the time being. We've lived here in the Mayan jungle for five years, nestled between two charming artisan communities, just 25 minutes from the beaches of Tulum in the Mexican Caribbean. We began the pandemic with this wonderful and challenging life decision: "Learning to be responsible for our existence with love and respect," surrounded by trees. We've planted, harvested, and eaten from our land. We had ducks, chickens, and turkeys, but they all ended up as jaguar food. There are high seasons and low seasons; there's so much to learn when you change from one lifestyle to another, especially when it comes to living in harmony with nature. With us, you'll discover and learn a variety of skills, including planting techniques, gardening, tool handling, carpentry, and instrument making (crafting stringed instruments). You'll also learn to play instruments, macrame weaving, traditional cuisine, how to connect with the rhythms of the jungle, how to use energy efficiently, and much more. You'll have the opportunity to live with local families, learn the Mayan language and culture, attend traditional celebrations, visit cenotes and archaeological sites, and go to the beach. We are musicians and play traditional music from our region, "Son Jarocho," so we'll occasionally gather around the campfire dancing and enjoying time together as a family.
  
  
  Es un gusto poder recibirlos en nuestro hogar, somos una pequeña familia de 4 humanos ( mi esposo , mis 2 niñas y yo), 5 perros y un gato por el momento.
  Hace 6 años que vivimos aquí en la selva Maya, entre dos lindas comunidades de artesanos a 25 minutos de las playas de Tulum, en el Caribe Mexicano. Comenzamos la pandemia con está maravillosa y desafiante decisión de vida
  "Aprender a ser responsables de nuestra existencia con amor y respeto " rodeados de árboles. Hemos sembrado, cosechado y comido de nuestra tierra, tuvimos patos, pollos, pavos pero fueron platillo del jaguar; hay temporadas altas y temporadas bajas, hay mucho que aprender cuando se cambia de un estilo de vida a otro y más cuando se trata de vivir en armonía con la naturaleza. Con nosotros conocerán y aprenderán diferentes conocimientos como: técnicas para sembrar, cuidar jardines, manejo de herramientas, carpintería, lauderia (elaboración de instrumentos de cuerda) también podrán aprender a tocar el instrumento, a tejer con macrame, gastronomía tradicional , a convivir con los ritmos de la selva, eficientar recursos energéticos y mucho más.
  Podrán convivir con familias nativas , así conocerán el idioma Maya y su cultura, asistir a celebraciones tradicionales, visitar cenotes, zonas arqueológicas, ir a la playa.
  Somos músicos, tocamos música tradicional de nuestra región de Veracruz "Son Jarocho" así que de vez en cuando nos encontraremos alrededor de la fuego bailando y conviviendo en familia.

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  We love the idea of hearing other languages, experiencing different lifestyles and cultures, and sharing meals like family. Mexican culture is so rich and vibrant; you'll learn everything from cooking beans over a wood fire to preparing dishes buried in the ground, as well as traditional dances, music, customs, and traditions, depending on the season you visit. We all have something to share and learn, enriching ourselves with our experiences, which will become lifelong memories that will guide us someday. It's a wonderful thing, and if we have the opportunity to do it, what better way than through exchanges where everyone wins?
  
  Nos encanta la idea de escuchar otros idiomas, conocer diferentes estilos de vida y cultura compartiendo la mesa y los alimentos como en familia; la cultura Mexicana es muy rica y colorida , aprenderán desde hacer frijoles con leña hasta platillos enterrados en la tierra, bailes tradicionales, música, costumbres y tradiciones dependiendo la temporada que nos visiten.
  Todos tenemos algo para compartir y aprender, nutrirnos de nuestras experiencias, que se volverán recuerdos de vida que en algún momento nos servirán cómo guía, es algo maravilloso, sí tenemos la oportunidad para hacerlo que mejor que realizando intercambios donde todos somos ganadores.

  Help

  They will primarily help us with the upkeep of the green areas, which is an edible garden. Their tasks will include planting, transplanting, watering, composting, caring for the animals, and maintaining common areas. Some activities will be done together, while others, depending on their complexity, knowledge, and skills, will be done individually. We sometimes hold extra activities or events to raise funds, and they can participate if they wish.
  
  Principalmente nos ayudarán con el cuidado de áreas verdes que es un jardín comestible, realizarán actividades desde siembra, transplante, riego, composta , cuidado de los animales y mantenimiento de áreas comunes. Algunas actividades las haremos en conjunto y otras dependiendo sí son sencillas, conocimientos y habilidades las realizarán individuales. A veces realizamos actividades extras o eventos para generar recursos económicos podrán participar si quieren.

  Accommodation

  We offer cabin and tent options, both equipped with everything you need for sleeping, a safe roof, and shared, eco-friendly bathrooms and showers. Depending on the number of people staying with us upon your arrival, meal preparation and schedules will be assigned and organized. Food and a pantry will be provided so you can prepare your meals.
  
  Tenemos opcion en cabaña y casa de campaña , con lo ne cesario para dormir ,techo seguro, el baño y regadera son ecológicos y compartidos.
  Dependiendo de cuántas personas estemos conviviendo en el momento de su llegada se designará y organizará la preparación de los alimentos y horarios para ellos. Se les proveerá los alimentos y una despensa para que puedan prepararlos.

  What else ...

  Our location is a privilege, allowing you to visit natural, archaeological, and recreational tourist attractions within easy reach, depending on your preferences. You can relax in a hammock at the house, meditate surrounded by nature, visit the community's cenote, and if you wish to venture out, you can go to the beach, Valladolid, or other destinations. There is a wide variety of activities to enjoy in the area. Public transportation is available at affordable prices, including taxis and vans that you can catch on the highway. These operate on specific schedules, making it easy to plan your departure and arrival. It's important to note that we use solar-powered electricity, so we take care to conserve and use it efficiently. Our bathrooms are of two types: dry and biodigester (using water), which requires special care. Waste generation is minimal per week; we encourage guests not to bring trash, and if any is generated, each person is responsible for its disposal. Internet access is limited, and cell phone signal is variable due to the density of the jungle, but we are a 10-minute bike ride (we provide bikes) or a 20-minute walk from the community. It's a space to relax and connect with nature and yourself. The most important thing is to be attentive and willing to participate; living in harmony with nature always requires extra care to preserve the balance found within it.
  
  Nuestra ubicación es un privilegio ya que pueden visitar atractivos turísticos naturales , arqueológicos y recreativos a distancias cortas dependiendo de sus gustos. Podrán descansar en una hamaca en la casa, meditar rodeados de naturaleza, visitar el cenote de la comunidad y si quieren salir pueden ir a la playa, Valladolid u otros lugares, hay diversidad de actividades que hacer en la zona. Existen transportes colectivos a precios accesibles para poder trasladarse ya sea en taxi o vans que pueden tomar en la carretera los cuáles tienen horarios específicos, esto lo hace más fácil para organizar su salida y llegada.
  
  Es importante decir que las energía eléctrica que usamos es solar, por esa razón se procura el cuidado y uso de la misma, nuestros baños son de dos tipos seco y con biodigestor ( con agua) pero requiere cuidados especiales. La generación de residuos es mínima por semana, se procura no traer basura y sí se genera cada quién se hace responsable de ella. El internet es limitado, la señal de celular es variable por la densidad de la selva pero estamos a 10 minutos en bici ( nosotros se la proporcionamos ) de la comunidad y 20 minutos caminando. Es un espacio para relajarse y conectar con la naturaleza y uno mismo. Lo más importante es estar atentos y tener la disposición para hacer, convivir con la naturaleza siempre requiere más cuidado para conservar la armonía que en ella se vive.
