Hello Volunteers, I'm Richard. I am married with three wonderful children. I hold a Masters degree in Social Work and Social Administration, a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration and Management, a Bachelors degree in Counseling.
Having worked with persons infected and affected by HIV/AIDS for over 12 years and most of whom were my clients, many people were left yearning for support and care in many ways. For this reason I founded in April 2014 an organisation registered by the Ugandan government as a non-profit, community-based organization to give a helping hand to needy children in vulnerable communities.
Our community school supports many needy children who lost one or both parents and were left with their grand parents who could not even manage to provide a meal or take them to school while others became family leaders at a very young age and others are greatly affected by poverty. Since Several young girls have continued getting married off at tender ages due to high poverty while boys end up on streets and hard labor, i opened up as school to give education support to the most needy and vulnerable children. The school has a few teachers who are paid very little money but would wish for a better pay for the good work they do. Our school is still in a bad state without windows and doors. However, we were blessed with a acre of land on which we plan to construct better school premises so as give the best education and skills to needy children and youth. This shall only be possible With your support and we believe that when we work together in partnership, we bring about ever lasting change for the most needy and vulnerable children, youth and their communities.
We offer short- and longterm volunteer opportunities in our home. Our volunteer placements are open to people of all ages and backgrounds, regardless of nationality or qualifications. Volunteers certainly gain an amazing life experience from their participation in our placement program and we recruit new volunteers all year round. Volunteers shall receive a certificate of appreciation on completion of they're volunteering time with us.

Cultural exchanges provide an opportunity to explore other cultures, traditions, customs, beliefs, societies, languages and much more. Cultural Exchange is good to interact with and learn from people who are different from themselves and to participate in new and distinctive experiences beyond their own communities. It also helps volunteers to develop positive relationships with others, understand a broader range of perspectives, and develop the knowledge and skills needed for participation in our multicultural society. It not only broadens volunteers point of view but also provides opportunities to gain new skills and knowledge.
Learn from the community to plant a communal garden, get schooled in traditional farming, learn to cook delicious local food, sharing history with elderly people, gain insights into our culture and learn about the reality of life in Uganda. You’ll volunteer along side motivated Ugandans in a new ‘hands-on’ project each day.
We do not have any fees but one can support us as they may wish by donating to our projects.
This excellent learning opportunity of culture, learning about the different types of foods, visiting cultural sites and languages leaves Volunteers with better understanding for people of all sorts. We have a community which is so much welcoming and the children will be very much exited to meet you.
We are always open for new ideas around our project.
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
We are looking for volunteers from abroad who can help in the community of Kasanje, Entebbe. We would like to have volunteers that are patient, flexible, friendly and outgoing. It’s a bonus to have knowledge and creativity in community work, building ideas, fundraising skills, organic and sustainable farming, permaculture, education or health. It would also be great to be ready to learn and adapt to our culture and have empathy. You should also be willing to have time to play and socialise with children.
Each volunteer has a different background, interests and set of skills. The organisation is currently implementing projects about economic empowerment of children, youth and women. We design volunteering programs so that they are all customised according to our needs and the volunteers's preferences.
If you have any further questions about the current projects / focus, please feel free to send us a message.

We will provide an accommodation and two meals a day for the volunteer.
The accommodation is comfortable and in a quiet environment. You will stay with me and my family in a place that is safe and away from stress. Our residence is located in Nakiwogo, Entebbe. Your room has two beds and you have access to a bathroom and kitchen. Mosquito nets are provided too. Meals are composed of local foods. We provide also vegetarian and vegan options.
The area around Entebbe and Kasanje are safe, peaceful and quiet, away from bustling of Kampala town. One can enjoy reading, relaxing, meditating, jogging or working out in beautiful nature.
The accommodation is not in the same area as the school. To get there we use a ferry which is free and a Boda Boda (motorcycle taxi) to and from the school.
While volunteering with us it's not just a time of working on projects but also time spent experiencing Uganda at large and the different cultures and also embracing the nature of the Pearl of Africa.
Volunteers can have time off their usual schedule by having time to visit different National Parks, Cultural sites and the capital Kampala. About your hometown Entebbe there are food markets, beaches, nice cafes and restaurants and much more to explorer.
If you interested in doing a safari while staying in Uganda please plan on touring with us. The tour gives back 50% in supporting the needy children and their communities. The volunteer shall have to pay for their tour trip.
