    Description

    Located in the Amazon region (Chachapoyas), with ecosystems that range from dry forests to cloud forests, very different from the Amazon jungle.
    Is the first to have been established in the seasonally tropical deciduous forest in northern Peru. Is located at 1800 meters elevation in a unique and transitional tropical forest habitat along the banks of the Utcubamba rivers.
    Lowland amazon, andean and middle elevation seasonally tropical deciduous are found together at this site.
    The reserve building are interwoven with a beautiful and growing botanical garden.
    This andes-amazon area is considered a world conservation priority and contains many endemic species of flora and fauna found nowhere else in the world. Valuable hardwoods including tropical cedars and walnuts are found in area forest.
    The Utcubamba valley is surrounded by forest covered hills, mountains, canyons rising thousands of feet above the river offering spectacular views and wildlife habitat.
    It is also surrounded by numerous Incan and Chachapoyas archaeological remains which volunteers can visit. The archaeological center of Kuelap is very close.

    What makes our place unique is the nature we live in, the weather is amazing, the view is breathtaking, just imagine waking up to with mountains, tree and plants around you everyday, also, the volunteers will be able to go to the main touristic places.
    We have around which makes this the perfect place to learn about the Chachapoyas culture in Perú, improve their spanish speaking skills, learn to cook peruvian cuisine and visit touristic places.

    Help

    Volunteers can choose from a general program which included a variety of different types of work, or from a more specific program focused on research. Already there is some significant and beautiful plantings of trees and ornamental plants in and arround the lodge.
    At the place volunteers will contribute to agroforestry, reforestation and organic vegetable garden and establishing model botanical garden for the region.
    They will also be able monitor wildlife with camera traps.

    All of the site buildings have been constructed from local materials and in an ecologically friendly manner. Bathrooms with showers are inside the buildings. Volunteers wil stay in very nice acomdations.
    Meals will be served in the reserve´s organic garden.

    The volunteers will be able to go to the main tourist places, such as the Kuelap fortress, Gocta waterfalls, Yalape ruins, Leimebamba museum, Revash mausoleums, Lagoon of the Condors, etc.
    We have bicycle available.
    Public transportation available from 6 am to 6 pm.
