Description
Calling all queers who desire to be deep in the rural backwoods. (Especially if you are uncertain about your safety in rural places - this spot is for you)
I’m a queer parent and local business owner connected to queer community here in Winlaw. (Yes! The queers are out here in the bush, we are many).
Come experience life in a quiet pocket of the forest surrounded by mountains, rivers and glacier-fed lakes.
My homesite is a private 2 acre yard on a larger 155 acre landtrust on a forested mountain-side. It is located 2kms up a switch-back road from the little village of Winlaw. The city of Nelson is 40 min away.
I am the owner of a small shop in Winlaw (called Rambling Rose) and there are several days a week where I need to be at the shop for 12 hours a day. For those days I am looking for company for my pets (cat and dog) - but especially my dog who you could take on adventures or hikes in the area.
Occasionally I do buying trips for the store and need to be away for a few days at a time - during those days you would be responsible for feeding the cat and dog and doing animal care.
There are additional tasks to do around the yard, like clearing and burning brush, chopping firewood, and if you are keen - starting a garden! These tasks could be negotiated depending on your skills or what you enjoy doing.
I have two kids part-time (ages 8 and 10) - they stay with me from Thursday evening through Sunday evening. So between kids and the business and the homesite - life is full and you’re welcome to join in fun. :)Types of help and learning opportunities

I’m well integrated in the local community here on Sinixt Territory, both in the Slocan Valley and Nelson, and happy to show you around, share the history of this place - both the Valley and the Landtrust I live on.
You are very welcome to be part of family life and learn about this place and this community.Help
House-sitting and Pet Care are the primary support I am looking for. Outside of that there is lots more to be done around here but we can customize it to what you enjoy. (Yard tasks, gardening, building etc).

Accommodation
Your home here will be a tiny house which has a small kitchenette, a loft bed, a small woodstove and its own outhouse (bucket compost toilet) and an outdoor shower. The tiny house is 8’ x 16’ and is full of windows!
Laundry is shared with the main house, which is where I live.
The tiny house sink has in-coming water from a faucet, but the water drains into a 5 gallon bucket which needs to be emptied by hauling it out and dumping it.What else ...
Heaps of hikes, rivers and lakes, natural and commercial hotsprings, cute town close by with good restaurants.
There is public transport to Nelson from Winlaw.A little more information
