    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We have maintained many friendships over the years with past volunteers who end up making return trips. We enjoy getting to know other peoples cultures and lifestyles. We are very helpful in teaching English language and teaching guests our way of life and customs. People who come here say they love the beautiful skies and the quiet country side.

    Help

This spring and summer we have many tasks and activities going on. Daily jobs would include feeding and watering the animals, ground work and grooming the horses, exercising and riding horses (ONLY depending on riding skill level), watering plants and cleaning pens. other jobs we plan to do this year are planting trees, planting a large garden, painting fences and various other building and fixing jobs around the 100year old farm. Occasional babysitting the grandchildren who are 3 and 1 years old.

We are looking for an eager individual who loves animals, spending time in the country side and excited to learn new jobs.

Prefer to host individuals with horse handling experience as the horses are performance horses and require individuals who are confident. Can offer 2x a week riding lessons to workers if riding skills are not advanced.

Towns within 1/2 hour drive time have banking facilities, restaurants, clothing stores and medical attention. There are two cities in the 1 hour drive range and several cities with airport access in the 2 hour drive range (workers are welcome to rent a car). We are close to the Moose Mountain Provincial Park which has a golf course and large lake. The Airport most convenient is located in Regina, Saskatchewan. Pickup is arranged in advance.

In the summer there are football games, local rodeos that workers can join the host family in attending.

many workers who come, in there down time enjoy going for walks with the dogs, reading books or sitting around the camp fire on the farm.
