Description
There is a link between what we do and who we are.
After many years of traveling the world and some more living in Africa, where soil and sea so vividly express themselves, we started to have a different vision of the great mystery of life.
With a huge heart for the ocean, we found our way among forks and spades, while attempting to live a simple and meaningful life.
We are located on a semi-urban, 2 hectare Permaculture farm, nestled in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, on the beautiful and diverse island of São Miguel.
We are passionate about permaculture, nature conservation, skills, and farming. We want to grow food that is wholesome, organic, and honest.
We’re committed to living a hands-on life and sharing knowledge and skills to help others do the same.
We are rehabilitating our land, and we will open our doors for you and hopefully add something new to your life—whether it’s simply learning to start your own garden or understanding a bit more about how to support the earth and start living in a regenerative way.
Come join us on this journey!

Help
We need energetic people with good life patterns and positive vibes to plug into the everyday work at the farm.
From taking care of the animals, to gardening work or join whatever building project that might be happening at the farm, such as grey water systems, compost toilets, nurseries, etc...
We have a "hands on" method of facilitating knowledge and during the days that you will spend with us, you will be "offered" an introduction to Permaculture course as we give special emphasis to explain the "whys and hows" of our work and lifestyle.
People with special skills such as carpenters, builders, photographers/ videographers, Digital media or any other manual skill will always be given preference.Languages spoken

Fall in love with the island. Hit the beach, roam the wild forests, or get lost in the beat of the city center.
No matter what adventure you choose, we’re here to help you discover and connect to your passions in exchange for your collaboration on the farm.
However please note that despite being close to all main cities on the Island, you still need to arrange for any kind of transport for your self during your stay.
We have a bicycle that you can use free of charge or a scooter that you can lend ( please contact us to know more about the T&Cs). But, if you want to take full advantage of what the island has to offer, we fully encourage you to rent a car.

We learned permaculture techniques and put them into practice. but above all we were greeted with respect and patience.
The Soil & Sea farm is an example of sustainability for the future, and all the efforts of their owners will certainly be rewarded. It's a landmark for permaculture on the island.
