    Description

    Hello there!

I’m Julian, and I live in a small village around 30 minutes outside of Tirana. The property is surrounded by nature and is a peaceful place to slow down, enjoy the countryside, and experience everyday life in Albania while still being close enough to explore the capital.

At the moment, I’m mainly looking for a responsible, independent long-term volunteer to help with house sitting, housekeeping, and caring for my dog.

This opportunity would be a good fit for someone who enjoys keeping a home clean and organized, is comfortable spending time independently, and can be trusted to take care of the property.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Volunteers can benefit from a cultural exchange by broadening their understanding of different cultures and customs. They can learn about different approaches to sustainable living, and can also learn various skills including martial arts, and a variety of technical skills, since I am eager to share personal skills and knowledge.

With this experience, volunteers can gain a greater appreciation for different cultures and lifestyles, as well as the skills to apply them in their own lives. They can also gain valuable insight into the unique challenges and opportunities that come with living sustainably and adapting those practices to their own circumstances.

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

    Your primary responsibilities would include:

House sitting and keeping an eye on the property
Caring for the dog, including feeding, fresh water, walks, companionship, and keeping an eye on his general wellbeing
Keeping the house and shared areas clean, tidy, and organized
Regular cleaning such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, bathrooms, and kitchen areas
Laundry and changing/organizing linens when needed
Keeping an eye on household supplies and letting me know when something is running low
Watering plants and helping with simple outdoor upkeep
Taking care of small everyday household tasks as they come up
Letting me know if you notice any maintenance issues or anything unusual around the property

There may occasionally be other simple tasks around the property, but this is primarily a house-sitting, housekeeping, and pet-care position rather than a farming or construction role.

    WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

This position is best suited to someone who is:

    Clean and organized
    Responsible and dependable
Comfortable caring for a dog and genuinely enjoys being around animals
Comfortable working independently without constant supervision
Proactive and able to notice when something needs to be done
Respectful of the property and shared spaces
Comfortable with a quieter countryside lifestyle
Able to communicate clearly if there is a problem or something needs attention

Previous experience with house sitting, pet sitting, dog care, housekeeping, cleaning, hospitality, or property care is especially useful.

    LONG-TERM STAYS

We are currently especially interested in volunteers looking for a long-term stay of around 3 months or more.

A longer stay gives you time to settle into the routine, become familiar with the property, and have a more relaxed experience of Albania rather than constantly moving from place to place.

If you’re looking for a peaceful base, enjoy taking care of a home, and would like to experience life in the Albanian countryside while still having access to Tirana, this could be a great fit.

    COUNTRYSIDE LIFE

The property is in a quiet rural area surrounded by nature. It’s a good environment for reading, relaxing, hiking, exercising, working on personal projects, or simply enjoying a slower pace of life.

Tirana is around 30 minutes away, so you can still experience restaurants, cafés, nightlife, cultural activities, and city life during your free time.

There are also ongoing gardening and sustainability projects on the land, so volunteers who enjoy plants or light outdoor work are welcome to help, but these are secondary to the main house-sitting and housekeeping responsibilities.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

I love to go on adventures! Whether it's a hike in the woods, a drive on the quad, or a motorbike ride along the coast or off-road, there's nothing like exploring the great outdoors.
I have explored a lot since I bought the land and found many hidden gems in the surroundings, there are a lot of beautiful places for hiking and exploring just near the property, high peaks from which you can see all the mountains and hills and villages, ancient ruins, lakes and an amazing river with natural swimming pools just a few minutes from our home.

I am an experienced guide who has done many off-road tours, and I will be happy to take volunteers on some adventure trips they won't forget.
I have over 15 years of experience as a martial arts trainer and a black belt in jiu-jitsu, so there will be private lessons for everyone who is interested in learning not only jiu-jitsu but also self-defense and Balintawak (self-defense with sticks and knives). I can also teach you how to play music: guitar, ukulele, and mandolin.

Of course, I am happy to share stories, the history of the Illyrian peninsula, and my native language of Shqip (Albanian).

    - During the hot summer days, I always go for a quick swim at the natural pools just to cool down, and everyone is free to join!
