    Description

Welcome to our family-run ecological farm. We are not a commercial farm and do not sell our products; instead, we live and work here in harmony with nature.

Our home is in the “Bucklige Welt,” about 100 km south of Vienna, close to the Hungarian border. Together with our son Jakob, my husband and I manage the farm and forest. I primarily care for our three horses, the chickens, the garden, and our dogs, Georgie and Tesla.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Our home is located in a beautiful and peaceful region surrounded by nature, offering excellent opportunities for hiking, relaxation, and slowing down from busy everyday life. We live in the middle of the forest, very close to nature, which makes our place truly special.
We also have our own fishing ponds where you can swim, unwind, and enjoy the quiet atmosphere. The surrounding area is rich in history, with many interesting sites to explore, although most of them are easier to reach by car. Larger cities such as Vienna and Graz are not too far away and can also be reached by bus, offering a nice contrast to rural life.

What makes our home unique is our lifestyle. We live closely with nature and produce much of our own food. Helpers will have the opportunity to learn about gardening, working with animals, and experiencing a more sustainable, hands-on way of living. In particular, working with our horses is an important and rewarding part of daily life here.

We are a multicultural family – I originally come from Finland, and my husband has Hungarian roots. Because of this, we truly enjoy cultural exchange and are always excited to meet people from different backgrounds, share stories, traditions, and perspectives.

During your stay, you can gain practical experience in gardening, animal care, and rural life, while also enjoying a calm and welcoming environment. In return, we hope for open-mindedness, a willingness to help, and a genuine interest in sharing your own culture with us.

  • Help

    Help

From April onward, things become quite busy here, and we could use some extra help with general maintenance and animal care. You should be comfortable around animals and have some experience working with them. If you can also ride horses, that’s a bonus—but not required. Your main responsibilities would include gardening and helping with the care and maintenance of our three horses and chickens. As we are a private homestead, Workawayers will only help with everyday tasks and will not be involved in any business or profit-making activities.

    Accommodation

We do not offer meals, but you will have a spacious fully equipped guesthouse with two double bedrooms, bathroom, a kitchen and a living room all to yourself. Depending on the season and availability, we will provide fruit, vegetables, eggs, and wild game meat from our own garden and forest.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Since our farm is quite isolated, we would prefer someone with a car, but we are also open to other solutions. We would prefer long-term Workawayers, but we are quite flexible — everything is a matter of communication.
