  • Description

For the moment we are looking for a volunteers until January 2015. We are not currently taking requests for later dates.

Our project is 7 years old and was founded by the Family Crane from the US. They visited Nicaragua and bought a lot of bracelets from children from Nicaragua. They went to the US, sold the bracelets and came back with the money and found this NGO. The aim is to help young people to get a good education.

Today there 45 young nicaraguans starting with the age of 18 working for our project and receiving the education they need. They can work from home or in our shop. We have people making bracelets, bags, earrings and hammocks. The shop is open everyday and about twice a month we create an event to promote all the jewelry which was made by our kids. With the money earned for the bracelets we pay him/her, his/her education, his/her health care and we support another nicaraguan project. In the future we want to buy a little piece of land that all the people working with us can live and work there.

We need people to help with English and Computer classes.
Volunteers that come will stay in our Project's house with lunch provided. Food provided by the Project is a typical Nicaraguan diet such as rice and beans with a side dish. We will not be responsible for accommodating special diets, such as vegetarians. If you wish to eat different food than what is provided, you will be responsible for purchasing your own food.

Granada is the oldest city in whole Central America. We are located in the kolonial center of Granada. The main plaza is only 2 minutes from our shop. There are a lot of restaurants and bars nearby. If you are too lazy to cook in the night there a people selling food on the main plaza for 1$. (Vigoron, Hamburger, Hotdogs, Quesadillas (0,20$)).
Also the famous street "La Calzada" with all its nice international and national bars and restaurants is just a 5 minute walk away.
Granada is located at the Lake Yolotlan where you find some beaches near by. At the weekend it gets quiet busy because there are a lot of bars and clubs open until 5 o clock in the morning. In your free time you can visit the Islands of Granada, which are about 300 little islands in the lake. You can hike Volcan Mombacho and Volcan Masaya.
Also the lagoon de Apoyo is just 20 km away. This is a picturesque lagoon in a volcan crater which is perfect for swimming.
