Hello everyone!
We are a Canadian Portuguese family living in the Obidos area. We have had such a wonderful time with our Workaway experience. We are welcoming help with house keeping, light gardening and childcare. Duties include basic house cleaning and occasionally babysitting our 6 year old daughter.
Our home is located 15 mins drive to Obidos castle and 20 mins drive from the beach. We are located in the country and our home is renovated and quite spacious. 3 acres of fruit trees, huge vegetable garden, lots of hiking trails. We are a 30 min drive from Nazare the world famous surfing spot! Several delicious restaurants close by. There is transit close by (10 min drive to the train or bus)
We do not discriminate on age however you must be mature minded and self sufficient. Previous work experience is mandatory. We require references from past jobs or Workaway feedback.”Types of help and learning opportunities

Jazz is such a strong, cool and funny woman. With her way of caring for me, she was more of a good friend to me than a host. She always gave me lots of good advice and tips on how to do things or what to eat and see in the cities I’ve visited around… read more
Jazz, Jamez and their daughter are a lovely team who welcomed us well from the first day on.
The work you have to do there is more fun than hard especially when you’re into dogs and if you need help with anything, they will help you immediately.

Had some great bonding time with our daughter however I feel like she might’ve been overwhelmed by Juliette not leaving her alone. Kitty loves her alone time so maybe a more structured work environment would have been better which is my fault as I am so relaxed.
She was great with the dogs and the… read more
She is such a strong woman and is able to adapt to various obstacles. Whether it’s day to day life or facing struggles such as power outages (helping me move a fridge from one room to another so the food wouldn’t go bad) or dealing with the sadness of newborn puppies not… read more
My brief stay with the Silva family was wonderful. A place of peace, with lots of green and an incredible view. You can sit and admire the view and breathe in the fresh air. If you like contact with nature, you can walk through the village of Carvalhal, look at the grape fields and admire the architecture of the houses and… read more
