Description
We are a couple of young hearted people and we bought an estate in the mountains a few yers ago. After some necessary renovations we finally moved into our new home and we have so many ideas and projects we would like to do but we realized we need help! We have chickens, sheeps, lambs, geese and a house cat, of course. Our dream is to create an all natural and self-sufficient farm in the near future.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You will be able to get familiar with the Italian language and traditions, manage a chicken coop, collect wild herbs, recognize poisonous plants, basic shepperding, looking for mushrooms, walnuts, chestnust etc.
Fabrizio speaks and understands English well while Levi, who has a more basic understanding of English (still improving her speaking) can both offer benefit from listening to family conversations. :)
Levi is interested in herbs and will be able to introduce you to some poisonous plants that she cultivates herself and other spontaneous ones that are excellent in the kitchen and for body care.
It will then be fun to learn how to take care of the hens in our chicken coop and also want to learn how to manage a very small flock of sheep.Help
We need help with yearly outdoor projects including: gardening, shepparding, feeding and maintaining chickens and wood splitting and stacking etc.
We always need help to regularly upkeep the estate: painting, mortar repair, small building projects, wood working......... strong arms and good skills are more than welcome :)
We also need to finish wire mesh fencing around the border of our property (about 1km) to protect our animals and leave them as free as possible. We have already started this project but it still undergoing and any help will be appreciated.
Many fields have to be cut for collecting hay to store in the barn in the winter.
Every year we have a delivery of wood logs of various sizes wich we required assistance cutting in smaller sections, splitting and stacking in the wood shed for the winter.
Regarding gardens, the method of the "elementary" garden is definitely our way, it is a non-tillage of the soil and the use of a thick hay mulch. It would be nice to experiment gardening in this way with someone and we're also open to new ideas as well :)
We intend to purchase 100 to 200 different types of fruit trees in spring 2024 to create a small orchard on our property. We're looking for help in planting these trees in late April or May, depending on the weather.Languages

We eat a wide variety of food, with the most focus in the italian food. We do eat meat and, if necessary, we can easily accomodate vegetarians. What else ...
The area is at the end of the Camonica Valley, on the top of the Iseo Lake. The valley is famous for its rock carvings (UNESCO site since 1979) and the pyramids of Zone, a geologichal treasure.
The nearest village overlooks the shores of Iseo Lake and the house is located in a quiet location, half an hour's drive from the town, up on the mountain. You can take pleasant walks in nature and reach a beautiful refuge not far away. If interested, we can provide you additional information on how to access or travel to different areas of interest. We have both phisical maps or digital PDF's of the surrounding area.A little more information
