Description
My mom (Beatrice) and I (Elsa), decided in 2015 to build a community homestead. After many research we finally purchased our farm in Brittany (France). 33ha of land, with meadows, forest and river. A true paradise already. We want to share it with the world and inspire others to do things differently and more connected with nature.
We created a non-profit association in December 2020 and we're designing the farm based on permaculture techniques. We'd like to find people to share knowledge with from "how to plant a tomato" to "how to knit your sweater from your own yarn collected from the sheep or alpaga you're raising". This farm has so much to provide. But everything takes time and 33 ha of land to develop is not like a 300 m2 backyard. We’re never bored. as we moved in June 2019.
I’m currently living in San Francisco, but planning to move on the farm before the end of 2025. I’ll be your interlocutor till you get there as they’re always busy doing something.
We would love to build this project with as many people as possible, and say that it was the chef d'oeuvre of a collaborative mind set, full of passionate, and inspiring people.

Ma mère (Beatrice) et moi (Elsa) avons décidé en 2015 de construire une ferme participative. Après de nombreuses recherches, nous avons finalement acheté notre ferme en Bretagne (France). 33ha de terrain, avec prairies, forêt et rivière. Un vrai paradis déjà. Nous voulons le partager avec le monde et inspirer d'autres à faire les choses différemment et plus connectées avec la nature.
Nous avons créé une association à but non lucratif en Décembre 2020 et nous concevons la ferme sur les bases des techniques de la permaculture. Nous aimerions trouver des personnes avec qui partager des connaissances allant de "comment planter une tomate" à "comment tricoter votre pull à partir de votre propre fil collecté sur les moutons ou les alpaga que vous élevez". Cette ferme a tellement à offrir. Mais tout prend du temps et 33 ha de terrains ne se développent pas comme 300m2.
Je vis actuellement à San Francisco, mais je prévois de venir m’installer à la ferme avant la fin de l’année 2025. Je serai votre interlocutrice jusqu’à votre arrivée parce qu’ils sont tous le temps occupés à faire quelque chose.
Nous serions ravis de construire ce projet avec le plus de monde possible, et dire que c'est le chef d'œuvre d'un groupe d'idées collaboratives, plein de gens passionnés et inspirants.

The culture, the food, the countryside... nothing can compare this side of France. We'll make sure to make your stay unforgettable and teach you not only about french culture and tradition, but also about this specific part of the country. Have you ever tasted homemade french crepes with homemade jam?
If you're into sailing, the Gulf of Morbihan is one of the most famous place where so many navigators were born.
This is of course on top of everything that the farm itself can teach/bring you.

La culture, la nourriture, la campagne... rien ne peut-être comparer à ce coin de France. On fera en sorte que votre séjour soit inoubliable et vous apprendre non seulement la culture française et la tradition, mais aussi les spécificités de cette partie du pays. Avez-vous déjà goûter des crêpes faites maison avec de la confiture faite maison?
Si vous êtes attiré par la voile, le golfe du Morbihan est l'un des endroit les plus renommé au monde où beaucoup de navigateur.rice.s sont né.e.s.
Et ça, c'est bien sûr en plus de tout ce que la ferme elle-même a à vous apporter/enseigner.

Help
The list is long. There's so much to do and so many different things on the to-do list. We like to compare it to a game. Choose whatever you're the most inspired by and go for it. It could be taking care of animals, planting/gardening, cleaning, cooking, renovating, building... or simply answering the phone.
You're sure to develop new skills ;-)

La liste est longue. Il y a tellement à faire et tellement de choses différentes sur la liste. On aime la comparer à un jeu. Choisis ce qui t'inspire le plus et fonce. Ça peut-être de s'occuper des animaux, de planter/faire du jardinage, nettoyer, cuisiner, rénover, construire... ou simplement répondre au téléphone.

Our farm wants to be as multi diverse as possible. ---------------------- Notre ferme souhaite s'ouvrir à un maximum de cultures possibles.
Accommodation
We can pick you up at the Meslan's bus stop. We have bedrooms upon availability. Although this is the farm life, so it’s not quite a palace. You'll have full access to all commodities (bathroom). You can also use the property to set your tent or park your rv. You're welcome to share our meals but we’re kindly asking all volunteers to contribute financially to the groceries.

Nous pouvons venir vous chercher à l'arrêt de bus de Meslan. Nous avons des chambres en fonction des disponibilités. Ceci étant dit, c’est la vie de ferme et pas vraiment un palace. Vous aurez un accès complètement libre aux commodités (sanitaires). Vous pouvez aussi utilisé la propriété pour monter votre tente ou garer votre véhicule. Vous êtes les bienvenu.e.s à partager nos repas mais nous demandons gentiment à tou.te.s les volontaires de contribuer financièrement aux coûts de nourriture.
What else ...
Britanny is so full of history. Brocéliande (Merlin's forest) is near by. We're only 30min driving distance from the ocean. "Les roches du diable" a famous river where kayak's race are taking place are 10min driving distance from the farm. Vannes, Rennes, Quimper, Brest... all those big cities can easily be accessed by train. They have so much to offer between museums, restaurants, nightclubs... And a lot of festivals/events are happening in the region. To learn more about what to do around check "tourisme Bretagne"

La Bretagne regorge d'histoire. Brocéliande (la forêt de Merlin) n'est pas très loin. Nous ne sommes qu'à 30 min en voiture de l'océan. "Les roches du diable" une rivière fameuse pour ses courses de kayak ne se trouve qu'à 10 min en voiture depuis la ferme. Vannes, Rennes, Quimper, Brest... toutes ces grandes villes sont facilement accessible en train. Elles ont tellement à offrir entre les musées, les restaurants, les boites de nuit... et il y a beaucoup de festivals/événements organisés dans la région. We can accomodate vans, campers, tents, tiny house, RVs, buses... We have an old horse carrier that is flat. And we can plug water and electricity if necessary. ------------------------------------------------ On peut accommoder les vans, les campers, les tentes, les tiny-house, les camping-cars, les bus... Nous avons une vieille carrière qui servait aux chevaux, qui est parfaite pour ça. Nous pouvons connecter l'eau et l'électricité si nécessaire.
Can possibly accept pets
We can accept all pets from dogs to horses. But we ask all pet owners to keep their dog on leashes until everyone has been introduce. And in the eventuality of an accident that the loss will be cover at the pet owner's expense. ------------------------------------------ Nous pouvons accueillir tous les animaux de compagnie, du chien au cheval. Mais nous demandons à tous les propriétaires de chien de bien vouloir tenir leur compagnon en laisse jusqu'à ce que toutes les présentations soient faites. Et dans l'éventualité d'un accident, que la perte soit couverte par le/la propriétaire.
