Details
 - Description- We are a middle aged couple who live in a big old house on 5 acres, 27kms from Brisbane CBD in the pretty Samford Valley. Our place is surrounded by horse paddocks and is only 20mins away from some gorgeous subtropical rainforest walks at Mt Glorious and Mount Nebo.
Mel (a geologist) works in the city 5 days and I work at the Museum 3 days per week. It would be best if you have your own car as we are 10kms out of our village and 16 mins mins away from the closest train station. We have a self contained, air conditioned 2 bedroom cottage with bathroom, kitchenette, living room WIFI and a pool to cool off in summer. We would prefer non-smokers. Gluten free, vegetarians and vegans are most welcome and we eat meat as well. We would love you to join us for dinners in the evenings to chat about your travels and we would include you in community events when they happen.
We need help in the garden planting trees around our pond, watering small plants whilst they become established and developing the veggie patch. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
We have 2 boys who are both married. They are creative young adults. Josh (32) is a sound designer and lives in Iceland with his wife, Jof, and Sam (30) is an artist who lives about 15 minutes away at Mt Nebo with his Belgium wife, Xanna. We all love travelling and we enjoy meeting people from all corners of the globe to extend our understanding of the world. We are interested in sustainable living and new ideas. With your help we could really make some headway into producing more homegrown organic food for our table and improve our garden.
 - Types of help and learning opportunities- Help with Eco Projects - Gardening - DIY and building projects - General Maintenance
 - Cultural exchange and learning opportunities- Travellers will have an opportunity to experience a relaxed Australian way of life in a semi rural environment.
 - Help- We need help in the garden planting trees, spreading mulch, developing the veggie patch, weeding, weeding our bird watching platform at our pond and help with painting 3 rooms in our house.
 - Languages spoken- English: Fluent
 - Accommodation- We have a self contained cottage attached to our house including a spare room with a double bed, bathroom, living room and kitchenette and we have a pool.
 - What else ...- It would be desirable to have your own transport as there is limited public transport to our house. Some of us use the train and car to travel to and from work so options to tag along are always possible. A car would also allow flexibility to enjoy the many coffee shops in Samford village and the surrounding towns like Dayboro, Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious. The beautiful beaches of the Sunshine Coast (north) and the Gold Coast (south) are about 1-2 hrs away and Byron Bay is about 2 1/2 hours away.
 - A little more information - Internet access
 - Limited internet access
 - We have pets
 - We are smokers
 - Can host families

 - Space for parking camper vans- We have 5 acres of land, 3 of which are flat and suitable for a van. We have 2 places with access to electricity and one tap closeby to provide water. The bathroom, living room and kitchen in the cottage would be yours to use too.
 - How many Workawayers can stay?- Two
 - My animals / pets
