Description
Hello there travellers, pirates, gypsies, nomads, tribes and people of the earth. Good day to you all!!!
My name is Panama and I share a piece of land in Central Portugal with my partner Gary l, our 4 yearold son zen and mother Erica. My mother and I moved here 8 years ago from the UK. Gary lived previously in the Canary islands. Although we share land we have our own homes and sections. We came here to live a quiet offgrid sustainable life but each have our own take on it.
The land is situated near the Serra de Estrella mountains, which are extremely beautiful with many stunning Portuguese villages and river beaches to visit nearby. There is easy coach transport from Porto, Lisbon and Coimbra.
We are looking for people to help us develop our land and make it sustainable and easier to manage. You would primarily be helping myself and Gary out on our section of land to help us with various tasks to benefit the land the lifestyle we wish to live, In a community type style with daily jobs and also a combination of land clearing, building and creative aspects also. Looking for like minded people who share a passion for this lifestyle and are eager to learn, share and make new lasting friendships.
In the summer months there are plenty of markets, parties and events going to allow us to socialise with others and enjoy our free time. Send me a message if you have any questions or would like to come and help :). Love Life sun p.s We have 2 dog and 4 cats they are very friendly.
We organise a local market/funday occasionally so help with that would be great, as well as to come and enjoy. At the moment we need help with general land clearing and some building work, any experience in building is great. Also gardening. Happy to host a family also, although zen is at school in the week. Anyone with experience or willingness to help with our son is also very helpful. Panama also has a small workshop on the town where she creates clothing for the markets and her online shop and also teaches local kids and teenagers to sew. They may be the opportunity for you to go and visit and create something on one of your days off. Also any help with social media presence and Marketing could be a great help.Types of help and learning opportunities

land maintenance
The area is stunning and offers many beautiful places to visit. There is lots of land for sale if relocating is something that interests you. The Portuguese are lovely compassionate people. Nearby we have an indian, Italian restaurant, a English pub and a couple of vegetarian cafes. Not to mention lots of cafes selling yummy Portuguese cakes and treats. We live close to local shops and super markets.
Having a driving licence would be a plus as we have a car that can be driven by anyone with a licence, so there would be potential to borrow the car on days off, if your over 25.Projects involving children

I am native english, living in Portugal, I still speak basic portuguese and would love to learn more.Accommodation
We have a cozy caravan that will fit two people, either a couple or friends if your happy sharing. Also a little wooden cabin close to our house. We have plenty of space for tents if you wish to bring your own or we can supply one. Also a hammock.
We would like our volunteers to help us out for 5 hrs a day, 5 days a week in exchange for food and accommodation.
You will be fed on your working days and will have access to the kitchen when you are not.
Food will be vegetarian/vegan food. Self service breakfast and lunch(we don't all want the same and don't all want to eat at the same times) with a evening meal either prepared all together or we will take turns. Preparation of meals and clearing up is not include in your 5hours work time.
You will need to provide your own snacks if you want snacks.
We can plan the hours once you arrive, the weather can be very hot so we will have to work around that. work will mainly need to be done early morning or the evenings, depending on the time of year.
On the land there is a compost vermy toilet with a view and a basic shower, please understand that water is limited so dont expect to beable to shower everyday, in the summer months you can go to the river most days. What else ...
We do have wifi, but I personally I do not like it on all the time, we can plan wifi times so that our phones only come out when we are not socialising /working also the WiFi is at our house, not in the volunteer caravan.
There is transport to Coimbra, porto and Lisbon close by and cheap.
We like to socialise fairly often and are ready to have people here with us on the land. We do however need a certain amount of time to ourselves and ask that you respect that and understand that at times you may be on your own. We have had volunteers in the past and have really enjoyed our experiences together. We like to combine land maintenance with a certain amount of creativeness and like to keep the jobs varied. In the past we have felt a need to work along side volunteers, to offer support, but living this life constantly means it can be hard for us to keep up when we also have others things to do that volunteers cant help with. We would like to have at least two volunteers at a time so we can give you jobs together. On bigger jobs and when we have time we will of course join in with you. I have recently started a clothes shop so need to fit in my work as well as work on the land and Gary occasionally works offsite and also has his own woodworking projects. We are very open honest, approachable people. Everything is subject to change and we want everyone to feel they can talk to us if there is anything they are not happy with or feel could be done differently.
Lets have a great experience together and get back to mother earth.A little more information
