I'm a former, well-traveled Workawayer and Ambassador who wants to give back as a host! Our creative, warm and inviting home needs help with DIY projects, yardwork and more. We're located in an older neighborhood in a diverse area not far from downtown Kansas City- very accessible to night life, restaurants, public transportation, and culture!

Help around the house
Kansas City is a great little city full of culture and Midwestern hospitality! We live very close to the downtown area and most other neighborhoods are within a 15-20 minute drive. Our neighborhood is very diverse with folks from all backgrounds, who speak different languages. There's definitely the opportunity to plug in and serve if you're interested in volunteer work beyond working in the house, I'm happy to be a resource as I'm connected to a lot of local non-profits.
For entertainment there are world class restaurants, great live music venues, theater, comedy, art walks, two free museums, and a lot more! Kansas City is really experiencing a renaissance of growth and so much culture to go with it for a little mid-sized city.
On a personal level, I'm happy to practice English (I'm also trying to learn Spanish/French), happy to teach cooking, share knowledge of travels, local culture, etc. There are two other roommates living in the house and we have a pretty sweet eco-system of community living with room to share!
I own a home built in 1902- it has a lot of character and also needs a lot of TLC! I'm looking for someone who has experience and skill with the following tasks:
DIY Home repairs- ( some help with painting, replacing trim, windows , sanding, tiling, other miscellaneous and light construction projects).
Yardwork- (weeding, mowing, mulching)
Cleaning- (mopping floors, organizing, washing blinds, dusting, etc.)
Miscellaneous- Meal prep, walking the dog, etc, bike repair, etc.
Of course, if you have your own ideas or projects you'd like to help on I'm open to ideas! The goal is to create a very unique, welcoming, and community centered environment to host travelers, artists, friends, and family. In the future I'd like to build a little free library, host documentary nights, and engage more in the neighborhood.

You'll have your own private (small) bedroom and shared bathroom with the rest of the house. The house has a fenced in backyard, front porch, two full baths, a kitchen, big living room and formal dining room. There's Google Fiber wifi and street parking available. We're on a bus line and about a 10-15 minute drive to the city center.
Individuals or couples are fine, however the room only has one double bed. Prefer folks who can commit to at least two weeks, however flexible on duration if it's a good fit! At this time, I can't commit to more than a month's stay. Work will probably only be about 2-3 hours X 5 days a week with lots of time off to explore!
