James was a wonderful host. He's very easygoing and extremely knowledgeable about the local plants. The main house and the little cabin were clean and cozy with great mountain views. I was very excited when we found a lot of morals in the forest. Hiking was hard for me because of the weather and elevation gains. Overall, it's an excellent… read more experience, and I enjoyed my stay. I will defiantly stay there longer next time.

Alexandra was great help not only on the farm but also around the house. She had a wonderful attitude and helped make the tree harvest much smoother for me. It was an absolute pleasure having Alexandra on the farm and in the guest house.

I had a great experience at James's. The property was beautiful, and my guest cabin was very comfortable. Staying from the end of October until early December I got to see all types of weather - sun, fog, rain, and snow! I love to hike, and there were a variety of fantastic trails on property or a short drive away. Western North Carolina is a… read more stupendous area. And, James's extensive property was a great place to shelter from the third wave of COVID-19.
The work around the house was straightforward - some cleaning and helping maintain the fire on cold days, but mostly food prep. My cooking skills are very basic but James enthusiastically ate all the vegetarian dinners I prepared.
I also enjoyed working on the farm - all the folks were super friendly - and learning about the business of Christmas Trees. James was very accommodating and flexible, allowing me to work as many (or as few, haha) hours as I liked. If you come work tree season, make sure you know how to count!
Great WorkAway experience. I'd recommend it to anyone.
