    Description

DESCRIPTION: This is a Permaculture Training Centre near Blantyre. Malawi
We aim to inspire environmentally friendly living by demonstrating those methods which save costs and resources.
We teach school children, women and youths the eco-methods of growing crops which save resources , and avoid expensive chemicals , so that they can avoid hunger. Their sleeping quarters need maintenance, and more accommodation needs to be built for the staff and students.

This is on route to Mount Mulanje National Park , built on a pleasant green site by Nantipwihilli stream, and looking towards the mountains.
We are a happy team of 15 Malawian staff, with international volunteers from South Africa, Germany, USA , India and UK . Martina our Team leader is a German citizen, long time resident in Malawi.

    DETAILS:
A variety of challenges in building and maintenance ( carpentry, plumbing) will require solving every day. Trainee carpenters and youth interns will require supervision , and need to acquire skills for their livelihoods.
More accommodation is planned for staff and students which must be suitable for the local climate, whilst also saving costs and resources. A mixture of conventional and traditional eco-building ( e.g rammed earth. grass thatch) , and upcycled materials (e.g wooden palate furniture) is planned.
A charcoal kiln is due to be constructed in collaboration with Malawi University of Science and Technology
We plan to build a model Eco-village. This will be a collaboration with international experts on-line and on-site.
