    Description

This is a non-profit registered charity that currently manages 168 hectares of farming land in Warrenbayne in North East Victoria, Australia. We manage to our holistic context: “We support abundant life and livelihoods by healing and nourishing ecosystems and our community. We belong and become in a beautiful and vital landscape”. 2 families and 2 single adults live at the farm currently. We have basic infrastructure to support community and visitors including a communal kitchen/mess hall.

We produce Australian White sheep which are available for sale as meat or livestock, while regenerating diverse native pastures and revegetated woodlands through increased photosynthesis and plant diversity. We are also starting to establish systems for dwarf milking goats (!) and chickens.

The residents and extended community has a wide range of skills in healing and nature connection. We are interested in exploring how we can develop the farm as a place of healing and learning.

The farm has a long term lease with a trust set up by the family to ensure the land is managed regeneratively into the future and that there are pathways for new regenerative farmers and engaged eaters to get involved in a way that fosters deep connection with the land. After 80 years, if the farm has met its obligations in terms of regeneration, the ownership of the land will be transferred to it. This governance innovation is designed to address structural barriers to a truly agro-ecological future. We are in the initial set up phase.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We/our friends are involved in wide range of local activities including a local community choir and community free food kitchen (Sundays). Our kids (6,8 and 7,9) attend a Steiner school in nearby Mansfield. We would love to have other kids/families come and stay at our farm. We have experience in regenerative farming and community food systems; nature connection programs for kids and adults; and healing. We are seeking connection with other people who want to also build regenerative and healing cultures.

    - We need someone to help look after our 4 goats, particularly as they approach kidding. Walking our dwarf goats is a very fun activity!
    - We are really seeking people who have practical skills such as rural fencing and building/carpentry (or other trades). Priority jobs include setting up prefabricated steel sheep-yards; fencing repair and fencing designated areas for pastured poultry and goats.
    - We would also welcome people with skills in communications/ storytelling;'website development; marketing/business/product development.
    - We will organise shared work days to concentrate work tasks with us and have communal meals together (likely Sun/Mon) with several days in the week where workaways will need to be self-directed/self-sufficient. In addition we need help Mon-Thurs with goat feeding and walking (approx 1 hr per day).
