  • Description

    Description

We are a small German family living a rather unconventional life on a finca in the Spanish countryside, between Valencia and Barcelona and only a short drive from the Mediterranean coast.

Our home is surrounded by nature, animals and lots of space. We share our finca with dogs, cats, horses, chickens and a few other animals, so there is always something happening here. We also have a young child who brings plenty of energy and adventure into our everyday life.

We enjoy a simple, alternative way of living and are slowly creating our own little place here. We love spending time with our animals, being outdoors, working on small projects around the finca and enjoying the peace and freedom of living surrounded by nature.

Life here is definitely not luxurious or perfectly organised – and that is exactly what we love about it. We live quite independently and off-grid, without close neighbours, so this place is especially suited to people who enjoy nature, animals and a quieter, more unconventional lifestyle.

  • Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

For us, Workaway is above all about cultural exchange and sharing everyday life. We love meeting people from different backgrounds and learning about their cultures, languages, food, traditions and different ways of looking at life. In return, we are happy to share our own experiences of living in Spain, building a more independent and simple lifestyle and creating a home close to nature.

We enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle and love preparing fresh, mostly home-cooked vegetarian food together. We are always happy to learn new recipes, try different foods and share meals around the table.

We also hope to improve our Spanish through everyday conversations and are happy to help others with German or simply exchange languages naturally.

Most of all, we hope that hosting people becomes a genuine cultural exchange rather than simply a stay. We want to learn from each other, share experiences and hopefully make friendships that last beyond the time spent here.

Our animals are an important part of our daily routine, so we would be happy to welcome someone who enjoys being around them and would like to help with their everyday care. This could include feeding and looking after the animals, and depending on your interests and experience, there may even be the possibility to build a special connection with one of them and take on a kind of “foster animal” during your stay – not as a task, but simply as something you enjoy doing in your free time.

We would also love to have someone around who enjoys spending time with our young child and becoming a bit like a big sister or big brother. This could mean playing together, exploring the finca, spending time outdoors or simply being part of everyday family life while I take care of other things. I am always on the finca, but it is nice to know that our little one has someone else to spend time with and have fun with.

Apart from that, everyday life is quite flexible. We enjoy cooking and eating together, sharing small household tasks naturally, and helping each other out where needed. Depending on the season and what is happening on the finca, there may also be opportunities to help with gardening or small projects around the property.

We are happy to share what we know and learn from the people who stay with us as well. For us, the nicest part of hosting is the exchange: sharing everyday life, skills, ideas, cultures and hopefully creating a connection that feels more like living together than simply working somewhere.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You will have your own little space in our garden: our cosy “glamping” wagon. It has a comfortable large bed, a sink and a composting toilet, giving you plenty of privacy and your own space during your stay.

The wagon has no traditional electricity connection, but you will have access to power banks for charging your devices. There is also a fully equipped kitchen and a proper bathroom with a shower available in our guest house.

We provide vegetarian food throughout your stay. Breakfast is flexible, so you can simply help yourself whenever it suits you. Lunch and dinner can be shared with us if you like – we enjoy eating together, but there is no obligation to do so.

We are a vegetarian household, so meat is not prepared or eaten on our finca. We are happy to accommodate a vegetarian lifestyle and share fresh, simple and home-cooked meals together.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We live in a very rural and quiet area, around 10 km from the Mediterranean coast. There is no public transport directly around our finca, so having a car is definitely an advantage, although a bicycle is available to use.

There is plenty to do without needing to go anywhere: you can go hiking or cycling directly from the finca, explore the countryside, go for walks with the dogs or simply spend time with the animals and enjoy the peace and nature around you. The coast and nearby towns can also be reached by car or bicycle, depending on where you want to go.

A few important things about our lifestyle: We are a non-smoking household, and smoking is not allowed on the property. We are also a vegetarian home, so meat is not eaten or prepared here. Apart from that, we are quite relaxed and don't have many strict house rules. We mainly value mutual respect, open communication and being considerate of the people and animals we live with.

Life here is definitely more countryside than city – there are no neighbours nearby and no nightlife around the corner. If you enjoy nature, animals, fresh air and a slower, more independent lifestyle, you will probably love it here.
