Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Our hub, is in the locality of Natural Bridge, Gold Coast Hinterland. It’s an incredible site with majestic views of Numinbah Valley to the north, Springbook National park to the east, and Lamington National Park to the west.
The infamous Natural Bridge is 2km down the road, and Cave Creek (the creek that falls through the Natural Bridge Cave), runs through our site. We have a couple of lush waterholes on site.
It is 30mins drive to major town centres (Nerang to the north, Murwillumbah to the south), 15mins to a small general store and fruit shop in Chillingham (to the south). Helps massively if you have your own car. But if not, that’s ok too, as long as you like living in paradise and not having to go anywhere to often!
Our place is a thriving hub of community activity. You will have ample opportunity to work with and connect with the 15 adult residents who live on site, as well as the many other cool people who come through and host their gatherings and retreats here.
You will benefit from the cultural exchange by plugging into a dynamic, thriving and active community of change-makers who are on the leading edge of grounded community building in Australia, remembering what it takes to live in alignment with ancestral wisdom in a modern context.
During your stay, you will learn all about the practical things of living on the land, like growing food using permaculture and syntropic agroforestry principles, as well as the more intangible aspects of living in community. We embrace the frameworks of Holistic Decision making, Non-Violent Communication and Sociocracy.

Help
We are looking to open up short-med term stays on the community for work exchange experiences. Your role will be specifically as assistant to the site manager, me, Rupert. You won’t always be working with me, depending on what is happening, you may assist other residents and crew with other activities. Tasks are varied and can be suited to your passions and skill sets. Anything from cooking and cleaning to bush regen and food forest gardening, from minor building repairs, to bushcutting, mowing, and childcare. You’re expected to help out 4-5 hours per day, 4-5 days a week, flexible hours depending on what is happening.
We run regular community gatherings and always need support with those too. Depending on the workload - we may get you helping out other members and households of the community. If you’re competent at computer work, marketing, social media, content creation, admin or business we can look at tasks like that too. Happy to host people with no experience as long as you believe in what we do, have a good work ethic and are willing to learn and give it a go.

Accommodation
You will have your own room at one of the three main residences, the Creekhouse. It’s just me as the other person upstairs, and my 4-year-old son when he is here half the time. Someone else lives downstairs in their own self-contained space. When I have other visitors or guests we might need to bump you into a swag we can set up on the verandah, or camper trailer we have in the front yard.
Food is provided, but breakfast and lunch you sort yourself. Dinner is the main meal, generally just before sunset and we can share that meal and other tasks associated together. Dinner is sourced as closely from the land as possible, which includes meat, but if you’re vego or vegan we can accommodate that too. No smoking inside, smoking outside ok.
