Description
Get inspired by the bio-ecological renovation of our cohousingproject (23 units) in Wolvertem, near Brussels : we have ecological, social and spiritual goals. We work with wood, earth, straw, green roofs, chalk.
At the moment, we have a field that we’d like to further develop. Our dreams include:
- Building a treehouse
- Building an outdoor kitchen (with a wood-fired oven)
- Building an (outdoor) wellness area
- Improving the space for our chickens
- Improve the tiny house (making it cosier)
Therefore, we are particularly looking for individuals skilled in construction or gardening.
Most of us have jobs outside the community and work throughout the week. This means that, while we’ll welcome and guide you as best as we can, we won’t always be around, and you’ll often work independently. We are looking for people who are comfortable with this. For this reason, we think duos might enjoy their time here more, but of course, individuals are more than welcome as well.Types of help and learning opportunities

The actual cohousing community, located next to the field we wish to develop/renovate, counts 30 people of different age and origin. Most of us speak Dutch and are fluent in French and English too. Some of us can also speak Spanish, German and Arabic.
By staying here, you’ll have the opportunity to experience our ecological and social project up close and learn a lot about community living and how this is translated into reality.
Some residents have started their own sub-projects nearby (a herbal tea garden and a food forest). Even though you won’t be working on these projects, you can learn a lot about them. These individuals are happy to share their knowledge with you (if they are there and not on vacation).
If you stay in the guestroom, you will share a little kitchen, dining room and bathroom with 2 other residents.
If you stay in the tiny house, you will have your own (very basic) kitchen and living room, offering you plenty of peace and quiet.Help

The area we wish to develop or renovate is located about 30 meters from our beautiful community living space. By staying here, you’ll have the opportunity to experience our ecological project up close and learn a lot about community living.

You can either stay in one of our guest rooms or in a tiny house located on the field we plan to develop. The tiny house offers a bit more privacy, while the guest room provides a bit more comfort.
What else ...
In the village where you’ll be staying, there’s a sports complex where you can play squash, bowl, table tennis, pool, and more.
If village life isn’t your thing, you can head to the big city. Vibrant Brussels is only 13 km away (1 hour by public transport or 45 minutes by bike). There is something for everyone there (flea markets, farmers' markets, music, hundreds of cafés, karaoke bars, museums, exhibitions, festivals, and much more).
Activities sometimes take place within the community itself (such as communal meals, singing circles, plant-based cooking workshops, yoga, potlucks, and more). You might have the chance to participate in these if interested.A little more information

People are very friendly and welcoming, this project is interesting and the work is varied.
I thank joost and the community for the kind welcome.
We worked independently most of the time, as usually everyone goes to their work or has their own tasks to do during the day.
Everyone was very welcoming, and we had many interesting conversations. I felt comfortable right from the start!
Thank you
