  The foundation's main objective is to transform society's relationship with animals. It addresses social and cultural challenges related to the strong entrenchment of traditional values that harm animals and nature. Therefore, the volunteer program focuses on animal care and raising awareness about the importance of their needs and their physical and mental well-being.
  
  La fundación tiene como principal objetivo transformar la relación que la sociedad tiene con los animales. Se enfrenta así a desafíos sociales y culturales que tienen que ver con una fuerte consolidación de valores tradicionales que perjudican a los animales y la naturaleza.
  Por ello, el programa de voluntariado gira en torno al cuidado de los animales y a concienciar en la importancia de sus necesidades y su integridad física y psíquica.

  We are passionate about creating meaningful connections with volunteers from diverse cultures: learning, sharing, and understanding different perspectives and lifestyles. Our team places particular emphasis on activities that foster solidarity, empathy, and commitment through an educational and supportive experience. Therefore, we would love to receive help from volunteers who genuinely want to dedicate their time to working at the sanctuary and whose intention in staying here is to help the animals, rather than for a tourist experience or simply to have accommodation while visiting Madrid.
  
  The sanctuary implements a comprehensive safety and well-being plan focused on the protection and comfort of volunteers, centered on prevention, training, supervision, and effective communication. For this reason, the volunteer program revolves around animal care and raising awareness of the importance of their needs and their physical and mental well-being. This involves carrying out tasks that restore their integrity as individuals and their right to live their own lives. The tasks consist of providing them with food and hygiene care, ensuring their comfort according to their abilities (sheltering them in their kennels at night, walking them during the day, moving them to a safe place in case of accident or illness, etc.); as well as cleaning their enclosures to guarantee their health and physical well-being. Furthermore, as this is a newly established facility, we are in the process of adapting existing spaces and constructing new buildings, so DIY projects, minor repairs, and facility improvements (painting, assembly, carpentry, etc.) may be required.
  
  
  Nos interesa crear conexiones significativas con voluntarios de diferentes culturas: aprender, compartir y entender diferentes perspectivas y estilos de vida.
  
  En nuestro equipo de trabajo se da especial importancia a actividades que potencien la solidaridad, la empatía y el compromiso; a través de una experiencia educativa y solidaria. Por ello, nos encantaría recibir ayuda de personas voluntarias que quieran dedicar su tiempo sinceramente al trabajo en el santuario y que su intención de alojarse en el santuario se deba a ayudar a los animales, más que a una experiencia turística o por una simple intención de tener alojamiento para ir a Madrid. El santuario implementa un plan integral de seguridad y bienestar orientado a la protección y comodidad del voluntariado, centrado en la prevención, la formación, la supervisión y la comunicación efectiva.
  
  Por este motivo, el programa de voluntariado gira en torno al cuidado de los animales y a concienciar en la importancia de sus necesidades y su integridad física y psíquica. Esto implica realizar tareas que les devuelvan la integridad como individuos y su derecho a vivir su propia vida. Las tareas consisten en proporcionarles alimentación y cuidados higiénico-sanitarios, facilitarles cierta comodidad atendiendo a sus capacidades (refugiarlos en sus boxes para la noche, pasearlos durante el día, moverlos a un sitio seguro en caso de accidente o malestar, etc.); así como la limpieza de sus estancias para garantizar su salud e integridad física. Además, por tratarse de un lugar de reciente creación, estamos en proceso de adaptación de estancias y nuevas construcciones, por lo que se pueden incluir labores de bricolaje, pequeños arreglos y mejora de instalaciones (pintura, montaje, carpintería,...).

  In our team, special importance is given to activities that promote solidarity, empathy and commitment; through an educational and solidarity experience.
  For this reason, the volunteer programme revolves around caring for the animals and raising awareness of their needs and dignity as sentient beings. Tasks focus on restoring their well-being and respecting their right to live their own lives. Responsibilities include feeding, hygiene and health care, ensuring their comfort according to their individual needs and limitations, helping move them between shelters and pastures, and maintaining clean living spaces to safeguard their physical and emotional well-being.
  
  In addition, as the sanctuary continues to grow and develop, volunteers may also take part in maintenance and improvement projects, including painting, assembly help, carpentry, small repairs, and other facility upgrades.
  
  En nuestro equipo de trabajo se da especial importancia a actividades que potencien la solidaridad, la empatía y el compromiso; a través de una experiencia educativa y solidaria.
  Por este motivo, el programa de voluntariado se centra en el cuidado de los animales y en la sensibilización sobre sus necesidades y dignidad como seres sintientes. Las tareas se enfocan en restaurar su bienestar y respetar su derecho a vivir libremente. Las responsabilidades incluyen la alimentación, la higiene y la atención médica, garantizar su comodidad según sus necesidades y limitaciones individuales, ayudar a trasladarlos entre refugios y pastos, y mantener limpios sus espacios vitales para salvaguardar su bienestar físico y emocional.
  Además, a medida que el santuario crece y se desarrolla, los voluntarios también pueden participar en proyectos de mantenimiento y mejora, como pintura, montaje, carpintería, pequeñas reparaciones y otras mejoras de las instalaciones.

  Accommodation

  Volunteering includes accommodation at our facilities, in a house with two shared bedrooms, a shared bathroom, a large kitchen, a living room, a terrace, and a garden. Meals are not included, as we do not have staff dedicated to this.
  
  Each volunteer must bring their own clothing and food. No animal products are allowed. This includes:
  
  1) Food items: nothing containing meat, fish, eggs, milk or dairy products (cheese, butter, whey, etc.), honey, or preservatives of animal origin (E-920, E-1105, etc.).
  2) Cosmetics (shampoo, conditioner, etc.): products that are not tested on animals and do not contain animal-derived ingredients (keratin, collagen, glycerin, or lanolin).
  3) Clothing: nothing made of fur, suede, leather, silk, wool, or other materials (cashmere). 4) If you are a smoker, no tobacco products tested on animals are allowed. The only brands that do NOT test on animals are: Manitou, Horizon, Pueblo, Domingo, and Pepe. These can be found in any tobacco shop.
  
  🔸 We also do not allow any other products tested on animals. You can check which brands test on animals by searching for them on PETA's website:

  🩶 🔸 You don't need to bring: water, sheets, towels, or cleaning products. All of these are included in the accommodation.
  
  El voluntariado incluye alojamiento en nuestras instalaciones, en una casa con dos habitaciones compartidas, baño compartido, amplia cocina, salón de estar, terraza y jardín.
  
  La comida no está incluida en el voluntariado, ya que no disponemos de personal que se encargue de dicha labor. Cada persona voluntaria debe traer su propia ropa y comida.
  
  NO pueden entrar productos de origen animal. Esto incluye:
  
  1) En alimentación, nada que contenga: carne, pescado, huevos, leche ni derivados (queso, mantequilla, suero lácteo, etc.), miel ni conservantes de procedencia animal (E-920, E-1105,...).
  2) En cosméticos (champú, acondicionador, etc.), que no estén testados en animales ni tengan ingredientes de origen animal (queratina, colágeno, glicerina o lanonina).
  3) En vestuario, nada que esté fabricado con piel, ante (anterina), cuero, seda, lana u otros (cachemir).
  4) Si eres fumador, ninguna marca de tabaco que esté testada en animales. Las únicas marcas que NO testan son las siguientes: Manitou, Horizon, Pueblo, Domingo y Pepe. Se encuentran en cualquier tabaquería.
