Being that this was my first workaway experience, I could not have asked for a better host, accommodations and work tasks. Tim is a gracious man who helps you get up and running in a timely manner to assist with the chores. The work consisted of feeding horses and ponies, mucking a stall where he keeps one horse and pony. Honey and Ivy are the

You will get lots of exercise with walking up the hillside to feed his Kerry Bog stallions. The KB ponies are beautiful and nice to work around-they are a very special breed! And Tim's farm provides an incredible opportunity for his horses and ponies to thrive.
My stay was for a month and it flew by! During my free time I walked to town a lot. The town of Schull, even during the winter, is lovely. Local grocery store, pubs, shops, restaurants, etc. The Wild Atlantic Way scenery will take your breath away! I met lots a wonderful people. Everyone is warm, welcoming and full of artistic talent! When Tim had time he was very kind to take me on local excursions for hiking, sightseeing, even a trip to ride Honey on the beach-amazing! He has great stories to share and values the history and culture of his homeland.
I believe I was very spoiled by the accommodations. The cottage is so charming and cozy. It provides everything you need to feel comfortable and at home. The views out the windows are beautiful.
Despite the unpredictable weather, this adventure is one that will be hard to top and is forever embedded in my memory. I highly encourage anyone that has a love for horses/ponies and wants to experience an amazing beauty of The Wild Atlantic Way to pack your bags to work and explore at the farm!
A big huge heart full a gratitude to Tim for opening your cottage and farm to me! I hope to visit again. Sláinte🍀

My workaway at Timothy's ranch was an incredible experience.
I stayed for about 4 weeks (I think that is the minimum required to get to know the ponies), in a small and cosy cottage next to his house, at the foot of a beautiful hill.
The ponies are very cute, each has its own personality, they can be a bit stubborn sometimes, so it is not always

I stayed around two weeks at Thimothy’s place. I loved it there! Timothy is really welcoming and told me a lot about Ireland and horses.
I had my independent cottage with a view on the pony’s fields while Timothy was staying at the main house just next door. For food he gave me an allowance and I was free to cook for myself.
“Work” was not
… read more hard at all and only a few hours in the morning. I took care of 4 ponies getting them use to be groomed, walk and trot on the lead. All of them have their own personality and I loved interacting with them each day and get to know them. Sometimes it can be a bit challenging because they are quite wild and I recommend having previous experiences with horses. Another task Timothy gave me was the walk up in the mountains to feed 3 other ponies. From there the view on the cost is amazing and you even have a bench to sit on where I liked enjoying the peacefulness of the place.
On my free time (afternoons and weekends) I explored the surroundings with the electric bike Timothy lent me. I also walk into town to the market and to listen to music at the local pubs (Schull is quite a vibrant place!)
I wish I could have stay longer at Timothy’s place and I certainly will come back to visit next time I am in Ireland. You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.
