    WHO WE ARE?

We are a not for profit hotel, surf school and education complex, an extension of our children's refuge in Tapachula. We work to spread the message of their message of love, life and hope to the Villa del Sol community.

As a community outreach center, we run free community classes in English, Swimming and Surfing for the children and young adults. We have anything from 5 to 30 children joining us every week, with three classes split according to abilities.

These children come from families living in extreme poverty, we have created a safe place in the community for the children and young adults to come, learn and have fun.

With our children's refuge and our community outreach projects, we have something for everyone!

We are looking for hard-working, dedicated people who share our common goal of helping improve the lives of an impoverished community. Teachers, swimmers, surfers, carpenters, artists, gardeners, yoga instructors, independent thinkers and passionate people with big dreams. Any skills you have that you think could help us, please get in touch and we can work something out together!

    Community Programs:

    Private Tutor
We are looking for a tutor to work with our two boys (aged 13 and 15). Our older boy is home schooled and needs support following his online curriculum. Our younger boy needs encouragement and support with his reading, and assistance with his homework.

    English Classes
During the week we run English classes for the children of the community, with up to 25 children joining us every week. Ages range from 5 - 20, and we split the classes according to ability. At the moment, as far as resources allow, we run a class three times a week, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.

    Surfing
We run a surfing program for both the children of the community, and the refuge children, using surfing as a way to help them overcome their difficult pasts, and to teach them that with hard work and dedication, they can achieve anything.

    Children's Refuge:

We are an extension of our children's refuge in Tapachula. Here there are 25 children living under the care of the refuge, from the ages of 8 - 17, all of whom have been abused, orphaned, neglected or abandoned.

Have you got a passion for working with children, and love the idea of making a difference and have at least 6 weeks to volunteer? We are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic, passionate people to help with the day to day running of the house - the kids up and ready for school, helping with homework, planning activities and general assistance.

For this position we ask for a minimum of at least a 6 week commitment. We will provide you with a room in our volunteer apartment and lunch with the kids. You're welcome to stay as long as you like after the 6 week period, and most of volunteers do end up staying longer!

We consider a volunteer to be a ‘friend with authority’ here. The children need love and fun but also guidance and discipline. Every volunteer has some talent that they can share. You don’t need to be an engineer or a certified child psychologist. A genuine love for children and an enthusiasm to work is a basic requirement.

Volunteering here is not a holiday but a busy work time; however it is incredibly rewarding and you will walk away from the place with the satisfaction that you have made a difference in the lives of the children.

    IMPORTANT NOTES:
We are located in a very un-touristic part of Mexico. While our tranquil, uncrowded setting has it's benefits, if you are looking for a highly social, party place, this is not it. Ideal for couples/travelers looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of tourist life.

Ideal location for surfers, with free access to our huge collection of surfboards, and located right on the beach!
