  Greetings, traveler! We are Reyna and Daniel, with a small family project in San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico. Important: - We check messages once a week. - We receive requests months in advance, so we have to add them to the calendar. Months in red are months when we have confirmed volunteer participation and no space available. Months in yellow are months when volunteers have requested to participate but haven't yet confirmed their dates, and we have enough space on the calendar. - We do not accept requests from borrowed profiles for security reasons. We welcome travelers looking for a safe place to stay during their trip in exchange for their participation in activities we have to do at home. Sometimes we need help with ongoing projects, so the minimum volunteer stay is one week. We are a small family offering an exchange. Through us, you can get to know, share, and learn about our culture, traditions, gastronomy, and biodiversity in a family atmosphere, while we also want to learn from you. The experiences have been wonderful. Most of the volunteers we've hosted have developed beautiful friendships and camaraderie, which is what we love most about this Workaway experience. We're currently making some changes to the house, and we'd appreciate help with the list I'll share at the end. We have a rental space in the garden, so it's possible to interact with other travelers. Daniel is also working on a cacao project, which is a great opportunity to learn about chocolate. We have close ties and are very friendly with a group of Tzotzil women who work with textiles, a group of Tzeltal women who work with pottery, and another group of Tojolabal women who safeguard a botanical treasure. When they need help, we also support them, and we'd love for you to meet them. We spend most of our time in the kitchen experimenting with fermentation and dishes, and we love learning new things, especially languages, gastronomy, and history. If you're interested in supporting us, you'll have your own space to rest, which can be private or shared, depending on the occasion. We only receive one application per season, though we can accommodate two if needed, due to the project's capacity. Remember that volunteers usually request their stay well in advance, so don't hesitate to contact us! We'll arrange activities and flexible schedules. We're located in the Cerrillo neighborhood. You can walk to the city center in 8 minutes, and the bus to the forest stops two blocks from the house. We'd be delighted to welcome you and meet you!

  Importante:
  -"Revisamos mensajes una vez por semana "...
  -Recibimos solicitudes con meses de anticipación, por lo que tenemos que agregarlos al calendario:
  Los meses en rojo es porque tenemos confirmada la participación de voluntarios y no tenemos espacio.
  En amarillo están los meses en los que los voluntarios han solicitado participar con nosotros pero aun no han confirmado sus fechas y tenemos suficiente espacio en el calendario.
  -No aceptamos solicitudes de perfiles prestados por cuestiones de seguridad.
  
  Recibimos a viajeros que buscan un espacio seguro durante su viaje a cambio de su participación en actividades que tenemos que realizar en casa, y en ocasiones necesitamos ayudar en los proyectos que estemos realizado, por lo que la estancia mínima de voluntariado es de una semana.
  
  Somos una pequeña familia que ofrece un intercambio, a través de nosotros podrás conocer, compartir y aprender de nuestra cultura, tradición, gastronomía y biodiversidad, dentro de un ambiente familiar, a la vez que deseamos aprender de ti.
  
  Las experiencias han sido muy agradables, la mayoría de los voluntarios que hemos recibido terminan en muy bonitas experiencias de amistad y fraternidad, esto es lo que más nos gusta de esta experiencia con Workaway .
  
  Actualmente estamos realizando cambios en la casa, nos viene bien ayuda para la lista que dejare al final.
  Tenemos un rental en el jardín así que es posible interactuar con otros viajeros.
  Por otro lado, Daniel esta realizando un proyecto de cacao, por lo cual es una buena oportunidad para aprender sobre chocolate.
  
  Tenemos participación y muy buena amistad con un grupo de mujeres tzotziles que trabajan textiles , un grupo de mujeres tzentales que trabajan alfarería y otro grupo de mujeres tojolabales que resguardan un tesoro botanico, cuando ellas necesitan ayuda, también nos toca apoyarlas, y nos encantaría que las conozcas .
  
  La mayor parte del tiempo la pasamos en la cocina experimentando fermentos y platillos, y nos encanta aprender cosas nuevas especialmente idiomas, gastronomía e historias.
  
  -Si estas interesado en apoyarnos, tendrás tu espacio para descansar, que puede ser exclusivo o compartido, dependiendo la ocasión, ya que solo recibimos una solicitud por temporada, pueden ser dos si así lo requerimos, esto es por la capacidad del proyecto que tenemos.
  
  -Recuerda que normalmente los voluntarios solicitan con tiempo su estancia, así que anímate a escribirnos!
  
  - Acordaremos actividades y horarios flexibles =)
  
  -Nos encontramos en el barrio del cerrillo, caminando puedes llegar al centro en 8 minutos, y el transporte que va a los bosques pasa a dos cuadras de la casa.

  This is a great opportunity for you to stay in San Cristóbal de Las Casas in exchange for your valuable volunteer service. It's a small colonial city steeped in culture and diversity. Getting your food is very affordable and super diverse, as markets with pre-Hispanic roots are located nearby, where fresh produce grown in the surrounding areas and in the indigenous communities arrive daily.
  At Casa, you can learn about the traditional cuisine of our towns, their music, and culture. It's also a very strategic city if you want to explore places like Palenque, Lagunas de Montebello, El Chiflon, Sumidero Canyon, Chamula, and Tzinacantan.
  You'll be treated as a member of the family, with all the respect and appreciation you deserve.
  
  Es una buena oportunidad para que te alojes en San Cristóbal de Las casas a cambio de tu apreciable servicio voluntario, ya que es una pequeña ciudad colonial impregnada de cultura y diversidad, abastecerse de alimentos es muy económico y súper diverso, pues cerca de nosotros se encuentran los mercados que tienen raíces prehispánicas, en los que todos los días llegan productos frescos cultivados en los alrededores de la ciudad y de las comunidades originarias ...
  En Casa podras aprender sobre la gastronomía tradicional de nuestros pueblos, su música y cultura, además es una ciudad muy estratégica si quieres conocer lugares como palenque, lagunas de montebello, el chiflon, cañón del sumidero, Chamula y Tzinacantan.
  Serás tratado como un integrante más de la casa, con todo el respeto y valoración que mereces.

  Help

  In our program with Workaway we propose 3 objectives: 1) Complete the checklist, which changes by season and depends on the scheduled activities, which generally have to do with the following: - Help with the pollinator garden: Relocate plants from the garden, pruning. - Maintenance and modifications of the house or the volunteer space (paint, wax, wood, tiles, sheets). - Roasting and preparing cocoa. - House cleaning. - Activities with support groups. - Processing ferments (sauerkraut, tibicos, combucha, bulgaros, tepache). - In the kitchen as a family with food preparation. - Help with BnB activities. - Help with the chickens. 2) Cultural exchange, which can be: - Practice languages. - Gastronomic activities. - Teach us something new about your work or your culture (we love learning new things). 3) Optional, but important, contribute your knowledge or experience: -The volunteer program for the following participants: -The cacao route project; -Teach something new and practical to the indigenous women's groups you will meet in this region. This includes travel plans.
  
  
  En nuestro programa con Workaway planteamos 3 objetivos:
  
  1) Cumplir con la check list, la cual cambia por temporada y depende de las actividades programadas, que generalmente tienen que ver con lo siguiente:
  
  - Ayuda con el jardín de polinizadores : Reubicar plantas del jardín, podar.
  -mantenimiento y modificaciones de la casa o del espacio de los voluntarios (pintura, cera, madera, tejas, laminas).
  -Tostar cacao y prepararlo.
  -limpieza de la casa
  -actividades con los grupos de apoyo.
  -procesar los fermentos (sauerkraut, tibicos, combucha, búlgaros, tepache).
  -en la cocina a modo familiar con la preparación de alimentos.
  -Ayudar con las actividades del bnb.
  -Ayuda con las gallinas.
  .
  2) Intercambio cultural, el cual puede ser:
  -practicar idiomas.
  -actividades gastronomicas
  -enseñarnos algo nuevo de tu trabajo o de tu cultura (nos encanta aprender cosas nuevas).
  
  3) Opcional, pero importante, contribuir o aportar con tu conocimiento o experiencia:
  -EL programa de voluntariado para los siguientes participantes.
  -el proyecto de la ruta de cacao
  -enseñar algo nuevo y practico para los grupos de mujeres indígenas que conocerás en esta región, esto implica planes de trip.

  Actualmente hemos realizado cambios, y con la ayuda de los voluntarios que nos han ayudado a lo largo de este tiempo, hemos creado un espacio especial para voluntarios que se encuentra en el jardín, con camas muy cómodas y espacios para tus cosas.

  -Traveling to Chiapas is safe! -We will be in communication and waiting for your arrival. -This works if you come with a strong desire to participate! -We can make many plans, the idea is for you to also enjoy this city! Information about our city: San Cristobal de Las Casas is a small tourist city that has been designated a "Magical Town" since 2010, a category granted for its historical and cultural importance, and tourist attractions. There are many museums in this city that you can visit, most of them for free. On weekends, you will always find artists in the walkways, cultural activities in the central plaza, plenty of places to have a delicious coffee. In addition, there are towns near the city that you have to visit to learn about the Tzotzil and Tzental culture, such as Chamula, Tzinacantan, and Amatenango, places you cannot miss. It's also worth noting that this city is a key destination for visiting important tourist areas such as Palenque, Monte Bello, Chiapa de Corzo, Sumidero Canyon, Comitan, and Chucumaltik, among others. The house is a 10-minute walk from the main square or downtown, but public transportation also stops two blocks away.

  Informacion de nuestra ciudad:
  San Cristobal de Las Casas es una pequeña ciudad turistica con la denominacion de "Pueblo Magico" desde el año 2010, categoria otorgada por su importancia historica, cultural y la oferta turistica.
  En esta ciudad hay muchos museosque podras visitar en su mayoria gratuitamente, los fines de semana siempre encontraras artistas en los andadores, actividades culturales en la plaza central, cantidad de lugares para tomar un rico cafe, ademas de que cerca de la ciudad hay localidades que tienes que visitar para conocer sobre la cultura tzotzil y tzental, como Chamula, Tzinacantan, Amatenango, lugares que no te puedes perder.
  Tambien se resalta que esta ciudad es clave para poder visitar zonas de importancia turística como palenque, monte bello, Chiapa de Corzo, Cañon del sumidero, Comitan, Chucumaltik, entre otros.
  La casa se encuentra a10 minutos de la plaza principal o zona centro, caminando, pero tambien pasan rutas de transporte a dos cuadras.
