Description
Hello dear workawayer!
Our fantastic place of 7 hectares is located in the east of Holland. Next to forest but only 15 min away (by bike) from a lovely lively old Dutch town called Deventer.
We live here 5 years now . When we arrived the whole property was a backlog of maintenance. In the meantime we have planted over 2000 trees and created a true peaceful place.
This needs care and more development.
We are a family of 3, our son is almost 13 and we have many 4 legged members. 2 dogs, 2 cats, 6 horses. The horses live 24-7 outside as natural as can be. You can be sure to learn a lot about them and from them. they are wonderful!
You do not necessarily need experience with horses but an open mind and some body awareness is welcome (if not present yet, you will develop :)
You wil have an independent house where you can stay very comfortably with 2 -3 p. (2 bedrooms) .
We love to travel and meet other people but we are not entertainers. So for couples or friends it is perfect (or if you prefer some time with yourself) You will generally cook for yourself and of course we will regularly get in touch or do things together.
We are looking for enthusiastic "green"people who are social and communicative. You are self starting once it is clear what needs to be done. -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
There are always many different people you can meet. A lively town is close by, we have bikes available, Amsterdam is 1.5 hour away by train. we speak English, French and German . I can teach you a lot about horses and hooves (vet background) and you will develop skills for gardening/ agriculture. You can swim on the property

Help
We need help with the horses (one youngster who is learning everything) : cleaning, feeding and different tasks in the field : planting, removal of weeds, mowing and wood-jobs. On top you can join on walks with the horses and get trained how to communicate and handle horses in a more natural style.
About 3 hours daily during 5 days per week (depending on weather :) for the rest you can enjoy the Netherlands! There will be days where an hour more is asked and days where there is only 1 hour of work... so if you need a fixed structure and precise time-schedules, this is not your place. But if you like to go with the flow and adapt to what is necessary that day (for example on hot days we start and stop early or do some hours in the evening) and we will always try to find solutions for your needs as well !
Some experience with outdoor work (farm) is preferable but willingness is key.
There is a vegetable garden and we use eco-principles (permaculture, no chemicals). -

Although almost everything was new, she really wanted to learn and be as quick as possible ready to do the job. With a big smile!!!
With a little help from Google translate we could communicate well enough. Thanks for coming Bella, it was a joy :)
Many things were new to me — taking care of horses, walking with them, brushing them, and helping with gardening.
Daniel was incredibly kind and caring, and always made sure I felt comfortable.
I also really loved the peaceful place I stayed in.
Thank you for all the beautiful … read more
