Description
We have many workawayers coming this summer, and can only accommodate now as of September 2025.
My wife Lori and I live in a brand new oceanfront home located on a private island ( connected by a bridge) located just outside the city of Halifax ( 20 minutes) and near world famous Peggys Cove. (25 minutes) Lower Prospect is a quaint and friendly fishing village on a rough and rugged coast. Small bays and coves abound. This is a spectacularly beautiful area with great hiking, sea kayaking, fishing to enjoy. Painters and photographers as well as outdoor enthusiasts flock to this area.
Halifax is the capital city of Nova Scotia is vibrant and cosmopolitan but small enough to be safe and friendly.
We are active in the community and Workaway guests will enjoy many opportunities to meet , engage with and participate in community here.
There are many things that we would appreciate help with depending on the aptitudes and interests of our guests. These can range from labor based things like grounds keeping and landscaping to carpentry assistance on various projects. There could be some organizational or computer based tasks. We love to entertain so a chef would be a welcomed and revered guest. Housekeeping help would be appreciated. To be clear we do not expect Workawayers to have all of these abilities, it is only to illustrate that a wide range of Workaway travelers would fit in here. We look forward to meeting you, and introducing you to Maritime lifestyle.
There will also be many opportunities to socialize, visit the city, go fishing or boating, We have kayaks, bikes, a power boat, a fishing boat, pool, sauna and ocean swimming, hiking trails, paddle boards available on the property.Types of help and learning opportunities

Lori and I are active in the community and enjoy entertaining. We are lucky to have a very interesting group of friends with wide ranging backgrounds and interests with whom we engage with continually.
We volunteer and are active in many community organizations. Lori runs yoga and Pilates classes in the local hall and all proceeds are used to put on seniors lunches free to all seniors in the community, put on monthly. Our guests are welcome to and encouraged to join in. In addition there is a pretty active social network of dinner parties and get togethers that we enjoy.
Lori and I love to travel ourselves and meet new people. We have a broad range of interests and are anxious to learn from the world travelers we are lucky enough to host. Lori and I both come from business backgrounds which may be of interest to some.Projects involving children

To be clear we do not expect Workawayers to have all of these abilities, it is only to illustrate that a wide range of ways Workaway travelers would fit in here.

Lori and I will work with you for most tasks. You may learn from us, we may learn from you but one thing is for sure: We will all have a great time.Languages
Languages spoken
English: FluentThis host offers a language exchange
Unfortunately neither Lori or I speak any language but English so would be of little help to a non english speaker. All are welcome here but we would not be helpful .Accommodation
Bedroom in our home or a guest house on the property. I would describe the accommodation and food as top of the line.
Workawayers would be welcome to eat with us. We eat mostly whole foods with an emphasis on seafood as protein but not exclusively. If workaway guests have other preferences they would be accommodated.
We could provide alternative groceries however in this circumstance they would be expected to prepare their own.
As my mom used to tell me when i was little and asking for alternatives at supper. She said "you get two choices. You can have what Im cooking or you can do without". In this case it would be "have what we are having or make your own".What else ...
Our home is a non smoking property. There is not public transport in the area however there are many opportunities to catch a ride with us or neighbors to the city. Other places would be a little less reliably available.
