    Description

Hi, we are Kati and Alexander. We have two little sons (born 2020 & 2024). We live in an 300 years old house with stables in the middle of a little town. On our little "farm" we have two cats, some chickens and 2 old horses.
As it is only the two of us and the kids we always like to have some company to help us with our tasks, for little trips with the kids and to share some nice dinners.

At the moment we are looking for an especially independent workawayer who doesnt have 2 left hands for some wood work we have to do between the middle of April and the middle/ end of mai. The wood work is machine assisted. We have a sow and a splitter with belt conveyor driven by the tractor. So the work is not too hard (Kati and 83 years old Grandpa also helped with it before). You will work together with Alexander with the machines at the weekends and the rest of the time during the week independently piling up the wood (this will be the hardest part we guess). A special thing for this stay is that as we are really busy at that time we would like to ask you to cook your meals generally yourself (of course we provide the groceries) and in turn offer that you work less hours than we usually do. The main work in hours will be on the weekend and the remaining hours during the week so that you will also have more days off than we usually do.

Usually we are looking for some help for gardening, cleaning stables, cleaning house and yard, help to carry some stuff around, some renovating tasks, playing with the kids etc. We can't wait for your message :-)

Kati looks after the two kids all day. If the weather allows it, we sometimes go on short Trips during the week, for example we go to a nearby farm and look at the cows or we go to a mountain with a castle nearby.
We usually eat together in the evening with the family at our big table. After that, our day is usually over because of our small children. Then you can chill comfortably in your room and watch TV, for example.
By working with us you can learn a lot of different things from caring for animals to growing vegetables and a lot about renovating, depending on what needs to be done when you are here.
We would be happy if you would cook something typical of your home country for us and tell us about your home Land. We do like fresh and real food though and don't use artificial flavours etc. and also avoid eating them. On some evenings we enjoy to cook dinner together with our workawayers (the cooking time is not part of the work time).

We do all the tasks on our farm in our free time as Alexander has a regular full time job and I have the kids (farm is not a business). So we need you to help us with for example the animals, cleaning the stables, DIY tasks, making wood, with our vegetable garden and other fields, moving things around etc. depending on season and priority.

    Accommodation

You will be accommodated in one of our guest rooms which is seperate from our flat. The bathroom is in the building next door. Of course you can also spend the night in your own van, which you can park safely in our yard.

We usually only have dinner together. Breakfast and lunch are irregular for us and are often cancelled. Thats why we have a little breakfast corner and a little workawayer cooking area where you can always help yourself to toast, Müsli (granola), fruits, pasta etc. We are "Freetarians" (meaning we eat whatever we feel like ;-) ) but if you don't eat certain things we will find alternatives for you, Vegan though will be difficult. We have water (tap), homemade apple Juice (if available), tea and coffee as drinks. We provide all the basic groceries you like and need, the drinks listed and of course bed linnen and towels for your stay. No personal hygienic products, alcohol, softdrinks, excessive sweets and convenience products etc. (Sorry, just from experience;-))

    What else ...

There are many options for your free time here, even though we live in a small town. The bus to Darmstadt leaves directly in front of our house. There is even a thermal bath in Darmstadt. The train station (Darmstadt Ost) to go to Frankfurt is also not far. From Darmstadt Hbf you can go to all the big cities. We even had workawayers doing a daytrip to Köln.
Forests and fields are also very close to enjoy nature.

It is important to us that you do not smoke, especially because of the children.
