Description
Hi,
My name is Åse. I’m 56 years old and live alone in my house by the sea, on a connected island with around 100 residents. I have two adult children who have moved out.
I spent 10 years backpacking and absolutely love traveling, new experiences, and meeting people. I would now like to be a Workaway host to give others the opportunity to experience Norwegian nature up close and in a meaningful way.
My home has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, with space for up to four guests.
I offer accommodation in exchange for light tasks, 3–4 hours per day, 4 days a week. Tasks may include cleaning, gardening, and painting. I want to create enjoyable days and memorable experiences for everyone who stays here.
You are welcome to stay for 1–2 weeks or longer, from March to November (except July, which is family time).
Everyone prepares their own meals, but please feel free to help yourself from the cupboards and refrigerator — and make yourself at home. It’s also lovely to plan shared dinners and trips together.
There is a cozy shop and pub about 1 km from my home. We can buy fresh seafood from local fisherman. I have a boat, car, kayak, and bicycles that you may borrow. It's 17 min by bus or car to the town, Lyngdal.
You are warmly welcome to my home 🫶 -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
My home is located right by the sea,
on a connected island with around 100 residents.
There is a small shop and pub about 1 km from my home. It is possible to buy fresh fish and seafood, including shrimp and crab.
The surrounding area offers stunning nature. I live at the very edge of the open sea, with wonderful opportunities for boat trips and kayaking. There are beautiful hiking trails right outside the house — along the shoreline or up to nearby mountain peaks. In the evenings, you can enjoy breathtaking sunsets, and during wintertime, you may even see the Northern Lights. -
