Janet and Dick live off the grid near Glacier National Park.
Would like help around their homestead surrounded by wilderness. Polebridge, a tiny town with a seasonal bar and mercantile, is about 18 miles south. The homestead is about 4 miles south of the Canadian Border.
Great views of Glacier Park . Polebridge is a great town. Check it out.

Have own homestead cabin a few hundred yards from main house or own apartment, near home. Both options have kitchens and bathrooms. But there is no wifi or cell coverage at the cabin. The apartment has limited wifi and cell coverage, but you will be welcome to come to the main house when you need either of those, either in a private room or in the common areas.
What else ...
We’re very flexible with the hours you work. You may work 3-5 hours every day, or 8-9 hours just 3 days a week, and have the rest of the time to explore or do your own work.

Amazing experience! I stayed for two weeks, helping out Janet and Dick with weeding, cleaning, and other small tasks. They were always inviting us to social activities and encouraging us to meet new people. My friend and I stayed in the apartment above the garage, and as mentioned, the view does not disappoint! While I did not have a car, Dick and… read more Janet were super duper accommodating with transportation, eager to share the beauty of the place they call home. From hiking Glacier National Park to rafting and attending get-togethers with the community, the work was worth it to say the least, a life-changing two weeks! Totally reccomend.

I spent the better part of two months with Dick and Janet doing various chores and projects from cutting firewood to landscaping to organizing. They are two of the kindest people I've ever met, always inviting me to go hang out with friends, get food, see music, and hike. I stayed in their renovated above garage apartment with a full kitchen,… read more fridge, and bath with the most breathtaking views of Kintla and surrounding NW Glacier Park. Inside the main house is a small home gym and privacy in the downstairs portion to watch TV, make phone calls, and scour the internet. Outside is a hot tub, small pond, and roughly 40 wooded acres along with a functional cabin that is in Montana's historical register. The house is an hour and a half from Columbia Falls which makes groceries and niceties a real chore and the rough road takes some getting used to, so be prepared for that. They have two pups who are as friendly as they are cute. I'm happy to call them friends and would recommend them to anyone who's interested.

What a wonderful experience I had working for Dick and Janet, staying in a quaint 100-year-old homestead down the hill! Janet is a lovely cook and there were no issues with room and board. For 6 weeks, I trimmed evergreens to prevent wildfires, painted parts of their home, organized other areas of their land, watered the lawn, picked… read more huckleberries, etc. All while having plenty of time to explore Flathead National Forest, Glacier National Park, and beyond. Dick and Janet took us rafting twice, introduced us to their neighbors, friends, and family, and to more weekend excursions! Simply put, they showed me the way of off-grid living and how euphoric it can be. Best wishes to them, the town of Polebridge, and the great state of Montana!

Dick and Janet were great hosts and I had a wonderful time with them! I worked for them a little over a month helping with mostly weeding and painting, and they were very flexible with how I put in my hours, which allowed me to explore and hike the area.
