    Description

    Hello everyone!

My name is Kamil, and I run a food forest in the beautiful West Sussex , just outside Chichester. We're happy to invite and host people here who are interested in learning and working together. Your imput is important to us, and our goal is to enjoy the things we do.

The food forest is built and designed on the principles of Martin Crawford’s teachings.
This project is a successful biodiversity trial, with an ever-increasing environment of diverse flora and fauna . We grow numerous plant species of trees, shrubs and herbaceous ground cover, climbers and root crops. To name a few: walnuts, chestnuts, hazelnuts, hearth nuts, pecans, apples, pears, cherries , mulberries, pine nuts, elderberries , hawthorns, figs, damsons, sour cherries , cherry plum, nectarines, peaches, chokeberries, almonds, Amelanchier Spp, pepper trees , honey berries, raspberries, blackberries , currants, gooseberries, bamboo, and all sort of perennial, herbaceous ground cover, herbs and medicinal plants.

The project sits on 2 acre, in a beautiful area between South Downs National Park (SDNP) and West Witterings beach, 3 miles away from Chichester. We're located next to a road, so it can get a bit noisy during rush hours.

I am currently deeply involved in my work at the main farm, and as a result, I'm unable to dedicate as much time to our garden on a weekly basis. Hence, I am actively searching for an individuals who can commit to a longer-term stay, a minimum of 2 months , but preferably 4-6 months.

In this role, it's crucial that the person is not only enthusiastic about the work but also self-sufficient and self-content, capable of thriving independently. Previous experience in working with gardens is highly desirable, as I believe in the power of hands-on knowledge. The ideal candidate should also possess a proactive attitude, taking the initiative to start and manage new projects within our garden.

Additionally, a willingness to provide guidance and introductions to occasional new volunteers would be greatly appreciated. Building a sense of community and passing on knowledge is an essential part of our mission.

If you feel like you fit this description and you're passionate about sustainable farming and permaculture, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Together, we can make our garden flourish and continue our mission towards a more sustainable future.

Looking forward to connecting with potential candidates and taking our garden to new heights.

Typically, Workawayers are asked to provide 4-5 hours of assistance per day for 5 days each week, which may occasionally involve weekends. The specific timing of these hours can be negotiated after an application has been submitted, as there is some flexibility. It is generally requested that Workawayers commit to helping for at least 2 weeks and maintain a flexible mindset.

We speak English , Polish and a bit of German.

If you have experience in gardening, permaculture, DIY or building among other things, you are the perfect fit. • What else ...

    What else ...

There is plenty to see all around Chichester's beautiful countryside! From the South Downs National Park to the coast and the best beaches in the south of England, whether you like to be active or spend your time relaxing, there is always something to do. You can go mountain biking, sailing, or even surfing at East Witterings (mainly during autumn months), visit local woods, or just sunbathe.

Ideally, you would want your own form of transport. We have very good road access to our site, and the nearest bus stop is just around the corner. However, public transport in this area is a bit sporadic. Chichester train station and a wide range of shops are 15 minutes away by cycling or 7-10 minutes by car.
