This is a peaceful country location in the beautiful Paxton Valley of northern Okanagan, British Columbia, between Kamloops & Vernon. Surrounded by wildlife, beautiful enchanted forests, open hillside pastures, ponds, creeks and nearby Monte Lake, this mountain valley has incredible energy, wonderful temperatures, huge blue skies and bright starry nights, all year round.
At this time, help is needed finishing the beautiful construction project of completing a cozy cabin project. Lots of physical outdoor hands always kept busy on a farm enjoying a simple country life - there is nothing more special than working with beautiful St. Croix 'hair' sheep, taking in the fresh air and making daily achievements that make a big practical difference!
There is always a variety of daily farm work including feeding, watering, shepherding on the property, land maintenance and animal management to keep everyone busy and entertained. This season there are several projects to tackle which promises to be very educational including; gardening, mowing, moving irrigation (checking inlet at a waterfall), fencing, tractor work on the land, as well as a cool construction project... generally, like most farmers, there are many more projects than time or energy! A person joining the farm should be a good communicator (every question is important!), be flexible to work as a team or a self starter (once they know the ropes), excited to learn, love open spaces and simple physical work surrounded by nature and peaceful energy.
Also, on the farm is a small country style 'custom care' dog boarding kennel providing individual attention, care and exercise for all dog breeds and types of doganalities that we have the pleasure to share time with. This part of the farm is usually not shared with workawayers unless you specifically love dogs in which case you could have a ton of fun!
Simply, here, the animals come first, the farm second. Days can be long, full of very satisfying work where getting dirty and digging in to do what it takes, is just part of it. Strong, practical, and holistic work ethics are devoted to the very best that can be for the animals, while we love to eat very well (which fuels our hours), laugh alot, have wonderful times together, get quality rest and ... any help would be truly wonderful and gratefully appreciated! Welcoming animal lovers and construction enthusiasts for a hands-on country, farm experience!

It always amazing how people come looking to learn about farming, and find themselves embracing the holistic experience as well as leave loving hair sheep! This glorious location has great energy you are sure to feel the second you arrive. (Caution: if you are not into country, working outdoors and a lover of farm animals, this may not be the best place to hang out!) Shared time and honoured values are unlimited: enjoy nature, wide open spaces, fresh mountain air, and simple common sense country living; experience the many facets of construction and enjoy the synergy raising and nurturing animals in a calm stress-free environment and most of all...understand the kind of compassion meant by "tender loving care" that is far and above, unique to farming. Most guests become life long friends and it is astonishing, the impact a simple practical farm life has on most people. Happily many workawayers return as 'family' friends, checking back often, having fallen head over heels in love with a very special BC flock of St. Croix (hair bred) lambs and sheeps!
As for ongoing projects, this summer is the finishing touches on a year round cabin, property maintenance and gardening. I have ongoing sheep and pasture irrigation/management tasks and one flourishing garden that need weeding and harvesting in it's due time! Then there is taking the forested hike to check the creek water flow and waterfall, property maintenance and daily challenges, as they come up...all the while enjoying good food, great company and abundant laughter!
