Description
We are Shane (37, project manager) and Jesper (61, engineer & business owner), living near the water close to Copenhagen.
We have hosted 40+ Workawayers since 2019, and many have become friends – some even returned later or we visited them in Italy, Japan and the US.
This is not just a place to “work” – it’s a social and relaxed home where you become part of daily life.
✨ What people love about staying here
• Great food (Italian, French, authentic Chinese, BBQ – we cook almost every day)
• Shared dinners and relaxed evenings (we eat together ~95% of the time)
• Sailing trips (typically once a week)
• International and social atmosphere
• Easy access to Copenhagen (many go exploring or out at night)
Daily life
• Help around 4–5 hours/day, 5 days/week
• Flexible schedule (city trips are always possible)
• Evenings: cooking, eating together, conversations, sometimes wine/beer
• Weekends: free
Sometimes we have BBQs, friends visiting, or go sailing – you’re always welcome to join.
What you’ll help with
• Light house tasks (cleaning, organizing)
• Garden and small projects
• Occasional DIY
Nothing too heavy – we keep it varied and flexible.
Who this is perfect for
• Gap year / student travelers
• Social and easygoing people
• You enjoy shared meals and being part of a home
Less ideal if you prefer to be mostly on your own.
🛏 Accommodation
You’ll have your own private room in a small separate building (5 meters from the house) – giving you both privacy and easy access to the social life.
🍽 Food
We provide 3 meals per day.
Cooking is a big part of life here – expect fresh pasta, pizza, Chinese dishes and BBQ. We usually eat together.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You will be able to learn Chinese and Danish language, culture and political situation.
I studied communication and philosophy, there's plenty we can talk about, and I work closely with China, I can provide you some latest insight about what is going in China now.
Help
There is no housework daily, but a vacuum twice a week would be nice.
It would be nice if you could make food sometimes, but not necessarily. I enjoy cooking! I can probably teach you some good Chinese dishes, how to make pasta from scratch, and homemade pizza as well.
Yes, there's also some garden tasks, but not much.

He's a very social person, well-mannered, hard-working and not afraid to get his hands dirty. He helped us with some work in the garden and some woodwork as well.
Do not hesitate to take him as your next work away.
Lynn took care of the house like it's her own, and she is good at baking as well.
If you are looking for someone to help out in your family, I would highly recommend her.

He helped us with a lot of work in the garden, such as cutting the hedge, mowing grass, and tidying the vegetable beds.
Pascal, you are welcome to visit again.
