    LOOKING FOR A LONG-TERM WORKAWAYER — MINIMUM 2 MONTHS

We are Simona and Angelo, a couple of photographers passionate about sustainable living, rural self-production, and meaningful human connections. We live in a large farmhouse in Torino di Sangro, Abruzzo, surrounded by fields, a vegetable garden, olive trees, and wide open skies, just a short distance from the stunning Costa dei Trabocchi.
Our dog Yuri, a four-year-old gentle and affectionate companion, is very much part of our family and will quickly become part of yours, too.

What we're looking for, and why long-term matters to us
After several wonderful short-term experiences, we are now looking for someone (or ideally a couple) who would like to settle in with us for at least 2 months, and possibly longer. We travel frequently, especially during the summer, and we'd love to find the right person or people to really get to know the house, bond with Yuri, and feel genuinely at home here — not just passing through.
We'll take time at the beginning to show you how everything works: the vegetable patch, the animals, the rhythms of the property, and the little details that make this place feel alive. In return, we ask for reliability, care, and a genuine connection with the land and with Yuri. Beyond the daily routines, the seasons bring their own rhythm, sowing and harvesting chickpeas and soy, collecting firewood, tending the orchard. There is always something to learn and something to contribute.
A couple would be ideal, so you can keep each other company during the periods when we are away.

    About our lifestyle:
Sustainability is at the core of how we live. We grow chickpeas, soy, wheat, and fresh seasonal vegetables for our own consumption, and we'd love to involve you in that process, from sowing to harvest. Simona is passionate about vegan cooking and happy to share recipes and fermentation techniques. Angelo brings curiosity and depth to everything from local history to hands-on projects.
We are committed to antifascist and anti-racist values, and we welcome people who feel at home in an open, thoughtful, and non-judgmental environment.

    - Sustainable farming: hands-on experience with growing chickpeas, soy, wheat, and seasonal vegetables using simple, low-impact methods, including sowing, harvesting, and processing.
    - Rural crafts and maintenance: learn to work with wood, manage a biogas system, build fences, and maintain a rural property.
    - Vegan cooking and self-production: Simona is happy to share her passion for plant-based cooking, preserving, and fermenting seasonal produce.
    - Italian language and culture: we speak Italian and English fluently and enjoy language exchange. We can also help you discover local traditions, food culture, and history.
    - Exploring Abruzzo: from the Costa dei Trabocchi to mountain trails, we'll help you discover a region that most travellers never get to know properly.

  • Help

    Help

We're looking for help with the following on a daily/weekly basis:

Pet sitting for Yuri, keeping him company, walking him, and caring for him, especially when we are away. This is our top priority.
Vegetable garden and orto, planting, watering, weeding, and harvesting seasonal produce.
Garden and outdoor maintenance, general upkeep of the outdoor spaces, lawn, and surroundings.
House care, helping keep the house clean and tidy, particularly during our absences.

Seasonal activities (these will vary depending on the time of year):

Participating in the sowing and harvesting of chickpeas and soy
    Collecting and stacking firewood
Light general tidying of outdoor areas and storage spaces

No prior experience is required, we'll happily teach you everything. We value people who are genuinely curious, proactive, and comfortable with rural rhythms.

    Accommodation

You will have the entire upper floor of our farmhouse as your own independent living space. It includes:

    2 private bedrooms
    A full private bathroom
    A fully equipped kitchen
    WiFi (fiber optic connection)
    Washing machine

The space is entirely self-contained, giving you full privacy and independence while still being part of our home and daily life. You provide your own meals, and you're welcome to use produce from the garden.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Having your own means of transport is important for making the most of your time here, especially during the periods when we are away. Our farmhouse is in a rural area, the nearest supermarket and village are about a 10-minute walk, so the basics are manageable on foot. But to really explore the region, run errands comfortably, and enjoy your free time independently, we strongly recommend arriving with your own vehicle, a car, motorbike, scooter, or e-bike would all work well.
Abruzzo has so much to offer: the Costa dei Trabocchi, the Lecceta di Torino di Sangro nature reserve, the historic towns of Vasto and Lanciano, and the mountains of the national park are all within reach. Public transport exists but is limited in frequency and coverage, so self-sufficiency will make your stay significantly richer.
