Susan and Aaron are amongst the most amazing people I had the pleasure of meeting in my whole year in Canada. They have pure hearts and are incredibly kind and welcoming. Their house immediately felt like home to me and three weeks quickly turned into six because I did not want to leave.
The work was easy enough and very rewarding - playing with
… read more their dog Cooper, taking care of their chickens and helping around the yard with power washing, painting, weed whacking and making firewood. They were always making sure I didn’t overwork myself but were also okay with me doing more for a few days and then taking a day off to go visit Vancouver.
Susan and Aaron are very social people so you will most likely get to meet a lot of their friends who are all just as amazing, open and welcoming. The area they live in is stunning and you have access to multiple lakes and hiking trails just around the corner. As they do live a little bit out of town and both work during the day, I’d say it’s easier if you have your own car, because it just makes everything a bit more convenient, but there is usually a car around you can borrow if you don’t have one.
The accommodation in their guest room leaves nothing to be desired and Susan is a great cook, so there is always plenty of food in the house.
So - if you are looking for an authentic Canadian experience with lovely people and the perfect mix of living in the country but having easy access to a town and Vancouver this is a perfect place for you!
Susan, Aaron, thank you so much for having me! It was truly an amazing time. I'm so glad I could come to your home and I'm sure we will meet again!Photos
This is Stave Lake, just five minutes away from our home.
