Description
Dear people, please come and join us now, we could really need some help with teaching our teachers starting in June 2024 and after that.
If ( and only :)) you have experience with teaching ( special needs / kindergarden/ first grade teacher) , please send us a message :-).
Our residential school is à wonderful home for children with special needs in India. Here there is enough space for 25 children. At the moment there are 18 children, but this can change any day, as more people learn from the existence, more children are applying. We life in a beautiful place. And is very green, has a beautiful garden where the kids can play and there will be a vegetable garden in the future, so they can produce their own vegetables. The children follow a daily schedule, which includes, teaching (reading and math) music, yoga, crafts and playing.
There are 2 local teachers working together with Maartje from The Netherlands, she has been a trained Teacher / physiotherapist and coach for many years. We have had many volunteers working with us since 2007. Some stay for two months, some have stayed for 5 months, and most love to come back to see the children again. Looking forward having you with us!

Before the children suffered a lot, they got beaten or even worse. But since 2007 Shobha and Maartje from the Netherlands are managing this place in a very wonderful way. The children are happy and will win a place in your heart for sure. They make you smile every minute and forget all your trouble. They will love you like their own sister or brother. Working with these kind of children gives you happiness inside.

Help
As a volunteer
You Will assist the two local teachers. Usually there are other volunteers too. Volunteering at our school you can really make a difference for the children who found here their home. You guide them, teach them new things, run the daily program and you can support them in their daily routines. You will give them the attention they deserves and what they have missed before they came to live in with us.
We are looking for;
Volunteers who are motivated to give us a hand in changing these children’s life’s for the better. If you are a enthusiastic person and always wanted to do something for yourself and others this is the place to be. Experience with children with special needs or people, is needed.
There is a daily program and the children have a lot facilities. During the daily program includes ; Children’s yoga, Good morning songs, Teaching, one on one with the children in which they get 15 private teaching according to their level of teaching, meditation yoga, crafts and playtime outside.
Our institution tries to be a real school and because structure and daily routine are very important to our children, we ask the volunteers to stay at least 8 weeks.

Accommodation
Food and accommodation are free, and we don’t ask for a fee, just your motivation and dedication. We build two new rooms with a shower and toilet upstairs. Upstairs you will have a big terrace and a lot of privacy.
What else ...
Kundapur has a wonderful location. There is a train going to Goa twice a day (8.30 / 16.30 ), and within 4 hours you can be on the beach in Goa, Palolem beach or North Goa Panjim (3 hours for Gokarna, still in Karnataka). But if you like more cultural things you can also go to Hampi, Mysore, Ooty, Cochin, etc. with the bus. It takes more time to get there, but it’s definitely worth it! The bus has sleeping coaches and the train is very nice. If we are with more volunteers you can also arrange to take the Friday or Monday off.
Location: Kundapura
Kundapura is located in the south of India on the west coast. It is a wealthy state with beautiful scenery. The main food supply is rice, and you will see a lot of rice fields on the way. Most people in Karnataka are Hindu, so there are many temples here to visit.
