Description
Welcome to our Farm. My name is Wangari and after 7years in corporate I decided to take a break ,come back home and work on my first love, Agribusiness .Currently we run a family owned 20+acre farm in Turi, Nakuru County focused
on horticulture ,seed production, dairy and poultry enterprises. With the Farm you get to curate your own experiences as we let you explore and indulge in your areas of interest. There's pretty much what we'd call a typical day as everyday is different here ,you could either be planting ,topdressing ,spraying ,repairs ,harvesting ,milking ,landscaping ,preparing ,cooking ,fetching firewood etc. While there's much to do we also take pride in the cosmopolitan nature of our site as you are able to explore multiple cultures and our relationship with the community enables you to explore more than we have inhouse. We mainly unwind from nature walks ,site -seeing -we are around Lake Naivasha ,Lake Nakuru ,Elementaita ,Mt Longonot ,Menengai crater etc.As great lovers of food we love trying new recipes so carry that cookbook if food is your thing !As for language be prepared to learn Kikuyu & Swahili languages as you teach us the language you speak. We give you the feel of a typical humble Kenyan village with lots of Kenyan chai & ugali along the way.Karibu.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are big on food and we hope we learn from each other's culture. We also live in a large community where you'd have an opportunity to explore diverse Kenyan cultures apart from our own Gikuyu culture-we normally do these arrangements for you. Social events are also a great part of a culture and we'd love to always tag you along whenever there's a traditional wedding ,funeral, etc going on.Get to explore our day to day off-grid life as we learn your language and cuisine.Get in the world of commercial potato and vegetable production, seed propagation and bulking as we explore new
technologies together.Lets make those warm dinners together over the old-school firewood burner.Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
We are currently looking for people with an interest in either the horticulture( irish potato production ,vegetables ,garden peas etc),dairy ,seedling production and /or poultry enterprises. We are also on the look-out for personnel who love handywork like landscaping, doing repairs ,pruning ,irrigation ,painting etc. In addition, our dream is to build our brand in the near future so if you got additional skills around content production ,SMM etc we'd love to hear from you too! While these skills are important my previous experience as a workawayer has been proof enough that interest is what matters ,skills can always be learnt .
A day to day would involve you working with other people who work on the different enterprises within the farm.Languages
Languages spoken
English: Fluent
Kikuyu: Fluent
Swahili (Kiswahili): Fluent
German: BeginnerThis host offers a language exchange
We are open to learning multiple languages ,actually one of my siblings aspires to be a polyglot ,,she's currently taking German lessons ,she's previously done basic French and is curious to explore Norwegian, Dutch ,Espanol and Amharic languages. This does not mean we are closed on the rest of the languages in the world,No,the rest of us seem not to have figured out what we'd love to explore and maybe just maybe its the language you speak .So Karibu!Accommodation
Depending on the season you'll either have an own or shared bedroom in the family house with a shared bathroom. If couch-surfing is your thing ,a couch could also be available for you. We provide meals 3times a day-however you can always pop in the kitchen and have anything available whenever you feel hungry-all am saying is you are at liberty to eat at your convenience. Meals are prepared mostly fresh from the farm and are done in the common kitchen. If cooking is your thing ,you are always welcome to help in the kitchen.
What else ...
You can always take walks around the village ,visit other farms ,watch a local football game, explore the surroundings-Lake Nakuru,Lake Naivasha ,Mt.Longonot ,Menengai Crate ,Great Rift Valley View Point etc.We are also 3 hrs away from Nairobi ,Eldoret and Kisumu the home of Lake Victoria. We also go out to our local joints for Nyama chomas and "good vibes" with friends and family. Our transport options are motorbikes and matatus.
