    Description

    We are a family with kids mixing travelling and living, in the house where I was born, in heart of Asturias. It is a big house surrounded by few other houses owned by my family and a nearly 2 hectare piece of land full of fruit trees and vegetable gardens.

    We like the most to be free, to be in nature, to live simple, to explore new places and to look after this place. We also like to bike, horseride, and life at sea, so right now we are combining looking after this place with building a wooden catamaran (Warram's pahi 42).

    We are:

    * honest and open with ourselves and others
    * reflective
    * clear and transparent
    * spontaneous and unorganised
    * aware about a healthy nutrition
    * sometimes: grumpy, passionate, sad, angry, excited, funny, heavy, ...

    We are not:

    * ideological
    * spiritual-new age-esoteric-yoga-meditation-idealists
    * vegan, vegetarian, rawfood, etc..
    * boring people with structured lives
    * followers of rules or morals
    * avoiding conflicts

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    We have an unusual way of living, without paid job or timetables, with empty agenda and a lot of observation of what we want at every moment.

    We speak English and Spanish in the house (but are fluent in few other languages).

    We like all things related to nature, adventure and deep understanding of ourselves. We like to fast, to bath in cold water (Win Hoff method), to bike and sleep outdoors, to horse tame and ride, to walk barefoot, to be in silence, to talk about the meaning of a fulfilling life.

    To be with us is an invitation to question all society norms and observe what is our potential, what we do changes our life and how happy we feel. Knowing us more, compliying less to what is expected of us, is a good recipy for freedom and happiness.

  • Help

    Help

    We mainly welcome help with garden and maintenance of the house.

    Outside there are trees to prune or cut for wood, grass, ferns or brambles to cut, some help in the vegetable garden and perhaps looking after 3 sheep and 2 horses.

    Inside we want to paint walls, oil wooden floors and windows, and do small repairs but mainly meals and daily life.

    We organice our days in a spontaneous way, choosing the tasks we like to do the most, listening to our need to rest and/or be inwards. We wake up in the morning without clock. We work as long and intense as we feel like sometimes 10 hours, sometimes only 2 .The day ends as it starts, unorganized and spontanous.

    But don't worry. You can have your structure and fix times if it helps you and we try to adapt to your needs as much as necessary. But you need to take it in your own hands, it's in your responsability to have a day where you follow your needs, do what you like the most and eat what you need as we are often very irregular with food times and often do intermittent fasting.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

    We offer a room in a big house, sharing the house with us as a family. The house is really spacious, having a lot of common areas indoors and and outdoors.

    If you want, you can also camp in the land, but a room will be available for you.

    Food will be simple and spontaneously organised. We buy only few things from the shop and eat as much as possible from the land. We also preserve foods to have all year round. We are not vegetarian but eat meat or fish not so often. We often don't have bread but are open to support you baking it if you want.

    About meal times we often flow with what we are doing and start preparing food when having fun about it or starting to be hungry. Food is always available and we often snack when we start to prepare food. We mainly prepare 1 meal per day and either intermittent fast or eat something simple in one or the meals. Simple does not mean fast food :) We are quite aware about what is healthy eating, we like to be simple, but are not strict about it.

    If you want to add certain foods you miss you can buy them and have them for you if you want.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

    We may spend most of the time in the house and land. We often travel all extended summer months and when we are in the house we often stick to it. We sometimes would go to sleep at the beach or mountains and could take you with us. But we would have space in the car and gear to sleep outside only for 1 volunteer.

    For you to move around there is bus quite close. The bus passes several times per day and connects to the main two cities, Oviedo and Gijón. From this two cities you can go by public transport anywhere.

    There is also train, 3km away.

    We can borrow you a bike to move around and explore on your own.

    Beaware if combining the online work with the volunteering may not feel too much. Life when volunteering can be intense enough, but nobody will know better than you if this two things fit well together.

    Space for parking camper vans

    We also have a motorhome and there is another man with a caravan living in the land, so we would need to make some more space for campers, but do ask us if you are interested in this option. There is a open common bathroom with shower available and washing machine. There is several points with water access, a common kitchen in the place where there is also yoga and tai-chi clases (so needs to be kept clean). And common spaces in the big house can be shared as well with volunteers in camper as with the ones staying in a room in the house.
