Description
I bought a house in Detroit 2016 and have had a loooong journey in fixing it up (also with the help of some Workawayers over the years!) I built a big garden, but then I left for two years to study in Germany. The garden needs so much help!
My goal is to build a perennial plant garden / mini food forest that is also a supportive social space based on permaculture principles. I also teach dance, am writing a Master's thesis, practice Thai massage, and work in experiential education.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
- I can teach a bit about Permaculture and perennials
- I can talk a lot about Detroit
- I can teach you how to dance!
- I can teach about rehabbing old homes
- I can speak in English, Spanish, or Italian while doing any of the above!
Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.

Help
I welcome mostly help in the garden. Because I have so many perennials planted between the weeds, I cannot simply rent a tiller; I need to mostly weed by hand.
There are still some house projects, but those end up on the back burner depending on my outside workload.

Can happily share English, and I would LOVE to practice my Italian (very proficient) or Italian, French or German (lacking opportunities to use them!)
Accommodation
There is an extra bedroom with a queen bed, a shared bathroom, and a fully functional kitchen. There will likely be a balance of preparing food together and being on your own to prepare food yourself.

What else ...
Detroit is awesome! I have extra bicycles and I highly recommend exploring it. We've got good museums, interesting street art, and friendly, good people. Also if you want to learn to dance argentine tango, you can take my classes for free : )
