    Description

Experience everyday life in the coffee mountains of Panama, an ideal place to disconnect from the fast-paced world and enjoy peace and quiet surrounded by nature. Hi, my name is Luis, I'm an environmentally conscious Panamanian hosting Workawayers since 2016.

My journey as a host began when I wanted to switch to a vegetarian diet and I needed some help with that. Little did I know, this simple idea would lead me to meet so many kind-hearted people from around the world. Hosting has been such a rewarding experience that I've continued it ever since.

At the moment I'm in the process of building a small home. My idea is to build a few homes in a forest setting to start a small community of like minded people who enjoy nature as much as I do. My project currently has 2 finished homes, and I'm half-way on the third one. The objective is to develop the land in harmony with nature, without removing any trees. Therefore, this project will allow me to preserve this land mostly intact. And will allow the humans living here to benefit from the calmness the forest provides.

My lovely volunteer assistants usually help me by taking care of the cooking and providing a helping hand with the things I'm working on, which can include things such as painting, sanding, gardening, and some small building projects. You don't need to have experience in any of the things I'm doing here, just bring a positive attitude, good energy, and a willingness to learn. I enjoy sharing the knowledge I've acquired over the years.

Before you get in touch, there are a few things you should know:

    1. You must be vegetarian and love cooking.
    2. Minimum stay is 2 weeks.
    3. I can only host 1 person at a time.

You are welcome to write at any time to start a conversation or ask any questions that you have. However, I only know if I can host somone when the dates are not too far in advance. Also, I only host when it feels like a good fit for both, so make sure you have a good profile description and enough pictures illustrating your lifestyle preferences and interests. It's always a good idea to read some of the reviews below to get a better understanding of what it is like here.

Finally, Boquete is a mountain town and it has lots of hills, so being in good physical conditions is a must to enjoy it here. The property is on a quiet neighborhood surrounded by coffee farms, homes from both locals and expats, and lots of trees. Going to town requires a 30 minute hike, therefore, the location is not convenient for those wanting to be in town all the time or going out at night.

Boquete is one of the top adventure travel destinations in Central America. Temperature is like AC year-round, perfect for hiking in the lush green fairy tale looking cloudforest. There are also small farms everywhere producing high quality coffee.

Most travelers will find it easy to get to Boquete. And once here the town is small and easy to figure out. One important thing to point out is that being a mountain town, there are lots of hills so walking on flat terrain is rare. If you are in good shape and enjoy hiking, you will love it here, if not, then this might not be the right place for you.

There are stores to buy essentials close to the house, otherwise the town center is 30-40 minutes walking with supermarkets, internet cafes, public library, and farmer market where you can find a great variety of fresh fruits and vegetables.
