    Description

Escape the fast-paced world and experience everyday life in a small mountain town in Panama. Here, you'll find peace, quiet, and a chance to disconnect while being surrounded by nature. My name is Luis, and I've been hosting Workawayers since 2016.

My journey as a host began when I wanted to switch to a vegetarian diet. I was hesitant because it wasn't common here, so I figured hosting experienced vegetarians would be a great way to learn. Little did I know, this simple idea would lead me to meet so many kind-hearted and environmentally conscious people from around the world.

Hosting has been such a rewarding experience that I've continued it ever since. Today, there are other things you can help with besides cooking, although I still only host vegetarians or at least mostly vegetarians.

I believe in making meaningful connections. Everyone who stays here is treated like a friend, and I do my best to be a good host. I'm always available to answer questions, give recommendations, and if you'd like, I'll make time to show you around or take you on one of my favorite hikes.

    What You'll Be Helping With

I follow the standard workaway work week of 5 hours per day, 5 days a week. The tasks can vary, but most of the time involve the following:

    - Cooking Vegetarian: For 2 to 3 people
    - Gardening: Planting trees, weeding, watering, trimming.
    - Property Maintenance: Painting, sanding, clearing paths, organizing.

    Your Time Off

In your free time, you can go on beautiful hikes, read a book in a hammock, practice yoga, or simply master the art of doing nothing at all.

    The Location

Boquete is a mountain town and it has lots of hills, so being in good physical conditions is a must. The property is on a quiet neighborhood surrounded by a mix of homes and coffee farms, located in one of the hills surrounding the valley/town center with great views to the Baru volcano. Going to town requires a 30 minute hike or 10 minute taxi ride, therefore not convenient for those wanting to be in town all the time or going out at night.

I look forward to hearing from you. Please tell me a little about yourself and why you think this would be a good fit for your travels.

    What else ...

Boquete is one of the top adventure travel destinations in Central America. Temperature is like AC year-round, perfect for hiking in the lush green fairy tale looking cloudforest. There are also small farms everywhere producing high quality coffee.

Most travelers will find it easy to get to Boquete. And once here the town is small and easy to figure out. One important thing to point out is that being a mountain town, there are lots of hills so walking on flat terrain is rare. If you are in good shape and enjoy hiking, you will love it here, if not, then this might not be the right place for you.

There are stores to buy essentials close to the house, otherwise the town center is 30-40 minutes walking with supermarkets, internet cafes, public library, and farmer market where you can find a great variety of fresh fruits and vegetables.
