    Description

Hi, we are Anna (28) and Jamie (29) and we have returned from traveling around the world to my family's hunting reserve in the beautiful České Středohoří. Before traveling we both lived in Ireland, but now we have moved into my old family house and we need a bit of help with maintenance around the house and gardening.

My family's wild deer reserve is located in a rural area (but also only less than an hour drive from both Prague and Dresden) with beautiful scenery and plenty places to hike or bike. It is a very quiet and peaceful place and we work hard to maintain it.

We have 3 horses - Azara, Tara and Jackie - so, if you are a rider you could join me on a few rides through the woods. We also have a dog Polly and a cat called Bobina, but we are starting a little farm, so there will be more animals soon.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are a very international family - my mother is Hungarian, my father Czech, my husband (Jamie) is Irish, I (Anna) was born in Belgium. I lived 7 years in Ireland where I studied equine science and animal nutrition and that is where I met Jamie who studied civil engineering. The last year we spent bag-packing through South America, New Zealand and South East Asia, and we are very happy to share our experiences from abroad and very interested in hearing yours!
Everybody in this family has a passion for food and we are very interested in finding out about different cultures from the food perspective and of course, we can share ours. You can learn how we preserve our garden produce and process our own meat. We are fortunate enough we don't ever need to buy meat and you will have the opportunity to try venison or wild boar dishes. One of my missions is to use every part of the animal and I am nearly there, but there is always more to learn!

  • Help

    Help

We need help around our house and with private projects. The help here is very varied and there is plenty of it! Mostly outdoor help. Help changes depending on the season. In spring and summer we usually need help around the house, with the garden and preserving foods. In autumn we need help with preparing wood for the winter as our house has a wood fired central heating.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

There is a newly renovated attic apartment in the hunting lodge where you will be staying. It has a private bathroom and a small kitchen area but also a possibility to cook outside on the fire. There is a stove to keep you warm in winter.

Food will be provided. Most of the vegetables originate from our garden and the meat is all from our hunting reserve. You can either dine with us or we can provide food and cooked meals that you can heat up for yourself at the lodge. All diets can be accommodated.
