Hello from Clare Island. I’m an islander, born and raised. I’m building my own home here, and it’s been a long journey. I’ve done many things—played music, fried sausages, ran a business, and earned a PhD studying music and community on this very island. I’m not a builder by trade, but this island is in my blood so I’m here for the long haul, committed to finishing what I started!

Help
I’m looking for people who have experience in building, particularly those skilled in carpentry or other crafts that require precision and care. While a professional carpenter or craftsperson would be ideal, I’m also open to working with anyone who has an eye for detail and a willingness to take on challenging tasks. If you have the skills, that’s great!. This is a paid position—wages start at Irish minimum (€13.50 per hour) with room to negotiate upwards depending on skill level.

Own ensuite bedroom (see photo for view from bedroom!) I will provide staples (bread, milk, tea, coffee and the likes) and we'll probably eat an evening meal together—for practicality! But you'll have access to a kitchen and food storage space. So I'm open to discuss the meal setup to meet your preferences. Let's chat!
