I spent 4 and half months working here and it was one of the best summers I have ever had. John and Anne were excellent hosts and made me feel extremely welcome and were very good at introducing me to the rest of the community. Whilst Lincro is remote (I would definitely recommend taking a car as the public transport doesn’t run that often) there

Whilst the work is very heavy cleaning based and can feel repetitive at times, the freedom to go explore once the work is done, makes it very worth it. John and Anne were also great at giving me multiple days off in a row so I could go and explore some of the Outer Hebrides.
Whilst there was enough work to keep you busy and earn good money, it is also easy to find extra work and boost your savings. I chose to work a couple of bar shifts in the local town, both John and Anne were very supportive of this.
The accommodation was great. John has done a great job making the Caravan feel extremely homely and had everything I needed.
In summary, I loved my time on the Isle of Skye and would love to come back. I couldn’t recommend it enough! You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

I've travelled quite a lot in the UK, but my time on Skye with Anne and John was the best by far. I was absolutely, warmly welcomed without question into their home and hearth, for fry ups on Fridays, walks through the past, gigs, and impromptu nights at home with endless homemade curries and wine. I would go back in a second, if anyone is

I know Victoria has left lovely feedback but she hasn't acknowledged how wonderful she was! Her willingness to "fit in" and be part of, not just the business, but the family from the minute she arrived meant she was worth her weight in gold to us! A kind, generous, talented and fun filled lady to whom we wish all best for her future - one we hope

Working in Skye with Anne and John was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had! They are both so talented and friendly, they opened their home to me and treated me like family as soon as I arrived. I would highly recommend working with Anne and John, it didn’t feel like work at all. This was an wonderful experience for me. I had my own space, yet was still welcomed into the family home. The work is straightforward, and went quickly once I got organized. I found the majority of guests to be personable and tidy. Anne and John are very warm people. They were always helpful with rides and information. I was touched by their

Most of all, I really appreciate being trusted with the responsibilities that I had, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity. I would recommended this place to anyone who is looking for a sense of accomplishment and a tranquil environment. You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

Christina is a lovely warm and friendly lady who was a delight to have around. She was very conscientious and hard working - sad to see her leave after 4 weeks.

Luis is a wonderful guy and we feel priviledged to have got to know him during his short stay with us. He is a conscientious and dilligent team player and a joy to have around - we would welcome him back as an employee and a friend.

Workawaying with Anne and John was nothing short of spectacular. The work is simple, with clear instructions, and there's plenty of time to do it right. There's also always fun extra work if the time allows, from helping with kayaks to painting outside furniture and so on.
The contact with the guests was great, most of them being very independent
… read more and friendly. Anne and John managed to make me feel a part of this amazing project that they have, as well as part of their extended family. They're very flexible on the work hours, and I managed to do some two-three day walks with wild camping, which is exactly what I wanted. Also, they're very involved with the local communities, so I got to enjoy music sessions and to meet really interesting people.
I managed to hitch-hike pretty much everywhere I needed, and this gave me further contact with locals and travellers alike. There were also occasional buses, but I mostly hitch-hiked. I also cycled often to the Trotternish ridge and the Quirang in the afternoons, and once to the Fairy Glen. Near the place, you can also walk to the beach, see some dinosaur footprints and walk to the northernmost point of Skye. Amazing. Be prepared for windy days and steep roads if you're to cycle to Uig and further.
The accommodation is great. Warm, with lots of privacy, a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom and a glorious view.
Having restricted wi-fi was a plus for me, as I focused more on cooking, reading and writing when in the caravan. I'd go to Uig or Portree when I needed a more stable internet connection (or groceries).
It's hard to oversell how greatly I enjoyed the conversations with Anne and family, and how they made me feel like I had something to contribute. I only wished I could have stayed longer, and I'll come back for sure.
Thank you so much Anne, John and Ronan! You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

I really enjoyed my stay with Anne and John! Both were extremely friendly and hospitable and they really made everything to make me feel comfortable. They truely help making my trip in Skye unforgettable with their friendly attitude, proposition on where to go, inviting me to activities and providing equipment (for camping, biking, etc.). They
… read more were also very flexible according to days off and understanding that I was also a traveler looking for adventure, not just a cheap labor worker (I never felt abused about work and the fact that they are giving actual money is a huge bonus). The job in itself was a standard cleaning job, no real stress to have but not much to say about it. I only stayed for 3 weeks since I wanted to go to Turkey at this point: but I definitely would have stayed there if I would have stayed in Scotland for longer. The location in itself may look remote: but their still was bus and I never had any problem hitchhiking since Scottish people are generally extremely friendly. Skye in itself was absolutely gorgeous and totally worth the visit! One thing that might push people away is that their isn't wifi in the room, but I still always could pop-up at the nearby house to get some, so to me it have never been a real problem... Definitely recommend if you're looking for a tranquil stop to work, while doing hikings on the days off!
Really hope that the appreciation went both ways!
