My name is Jess and I’m an empty nester mom who works from home, teaches yoga to share my practice and who’s very active, especially with outdoor activities. My home is a charming historic farmhouse but with all the modern features you could want. We are one hour from NYC and one hour from Philadelphia and 45 minutes from the beach. There’s also cool areas close by like Princeton and New Hope PA. We have 4 acres of land in the foothills of the Sourland mountains with hiking just outside our back door. There’s also rivers for kayaking. My dog Michael and his brother cat Dash are super lovable boys that need someone home with them overnight. I like to go away from time to time and need someone reliable and kind, who loves animals to come stay with us and enjoy what our home, family and location have to offer. I am also looking for someone to help with basic house chores, landscaping and gardening and general home maintenance in exchange for room and board. If that sounds appealing to you, reach out and let me know what you’re interested in.

I don’t even know where to start because these two weeks were so much more than I expected. This was my first Workaway experience, and I couldn’t have wished for a better host. From the moment I arrived, Jess made me feel welcome. It never felt like I was just someone helping around the house. She made me feel like I was part of her daily life.… read more Jess is one of the kindest, most caring and genuine people I’ve ever met. She always made sure I was comfortable, asked if I needed anything, and wanted me to have the best experience possible. She took me with her, introduced me to her family and friends, and showed me amazing places. We visited Princeton, went kayaking, explored different towns, and I got to experience the real American lifestyle instead of just being another tourist. Her home in Hillsborough is beautiful. Seeing deer almost every day, eagles flying above the house, and all the other wildlife made everything feel so peaceful. It truly felt like a little oasis. The work was always fair, clearly explained, and I always had enough free time. Jess appreciated every bit of help, and you could tell she cared about the cultural exchange just as much as the work. Looking back, I don’t only remember the places we visited. I remember how welcome, safe, and comfortable I felt, all the laughs, the conversations, and how much she encouraged me to speak English without worrying about mistakes. I learned so much, not only about America but also about myself. Leaving was much harder than I expected. I already miss Jess, Michael, Dash, and the peaceful mornings and evenings at the house. If you’re thinking about staying with Jess, don’t hesitate. She truly represents what Workaway is all about. Thank you for everything. I’ll never forget my first Workaway experience because of you. ❤️

I spent a wonderful month with Jess, and she is one of the best people I have ever met. She is an incredible mother, extremely professional in her work, and the absolute best cook! I looked forward to every meal she made, so healthy and incredibly delicious!!! She also teaches yoga and invited me to join her classes. From day one, she treated me… read more like part of the family, inviting me to join her friends' activities and taking me kayaking. I never felt like just a temporary guest. I truly felt at home!
Most of my work around gardening. We did everything from tilling the soil to getting the beds ready for planting. Jess and I went to the nursery together to pick out plants, and we planted so many different varieties of tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, various lettuces, and other veggies. We also bought lots of beautiful flowers to decorate the deck, along with some herbs and succulents. I really look forward to seeing all the vegetables mature, and I truly hope I'll have the chance to go back and see the harvest!
Speaking of the deck, it quickly became my absolute favorite place. It has comfy lounge chairs, and I spent so much of my free time there. I loved just sitting on the deck, doing absolutely nothing, looking out at the trees and just listening to the sounds of nature. Her place has the most amazing ecosystem. I met so many wild "neighbors," like a mother owl who had just hatched her three babies, and newborn deer that I got to watch grow up and run wild across the grass. It is such a beautiful, lively environment.
Of course, I have to mention the resident fur-babies, Michael and Dash. They are the sweetest boys and such good brothers to each other. When Jess was away, I did some house and pet sitting for them, and we had the best time playing together. After spending so much time with them, we became so close that I could understand what they were saying , haha! They are so much fun, and it was so hard to say goodbye to them.
I am going to miss Jess and the boys so much, and I will definitely be coming back to visit in the future!

Ming is just an incredible young woman that I would welcome into my home anytime. She is kind, lovely and gentle with a strong willingness to help and participate in whatever work we were doing. I loved sharing conversations and cultures and enjoyed listening to her share about her life in China. I know we’ve made a lasting friendship and I hope… read more she’ll return soon. She was an ideal person for my first experience with workaway. 20 out of 10. Highly recommend Ming. ❤️
I had a truly wonderful stay with Jess. She is a very kind and thoughtful woman who respects privacy and makes you feel comfortable in her home right away. Her house is very clean and has a cozy, comfortable room to stay in.
During my stay, I helped with housekeeping and taking care of the animals. In the last few days, the weather was beautiful… read more and we also spent time gardening and planting many lovely plants in the yard. Jess shared her daily life with me, took me to many places, and even invited me to join her yoga classes at the gym, which was such a special experience. She is also an amazing cook!
I also really enjoyed spending time with the animals Michael and Dash — they are both so lovely, and by the end of my stay, it really felt like we had become part of the same family.
This is definitely a place I would love to come back to in the future.
