Description
Our home is situated in a woodland garden on top of a hill at the edge of the university town of Leuven, a great place to live for young people looking for a vibrant, cultural and student-oriented stay. We are a multilingual family of three, mother and two young adult sons, currently both in higher education. Our main interests are the great outdoors, fossil hunting, nature education and playing music. We also have two young energetic dogs who need walking daily and some training in the backyard. We have a very relaxed household and you have to love the dogs…. and unfortunately dog hair is a given. 😉

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Being an experienced wildlife gardener and conservation volunteer, skills such as forest schooling, wildlife watch for children, bushcraft, nature monitoring and regenerative gardening can be learned in our own garden or at the local nature reserves. We are a multilingual family, well-travelled and can help with making plans for getting around in Europe. Short-term courses and paid jobs are plenty available in town, being a university town with many foreign students.

Help
When travelling, we like staying with local people to get to know the culture and place better. In return, we like to open our house to travellers.
We don't have a project, we are just offering a place to stay, so please let us know what your main interests are for visiting Leuven. In exchange, we expect our guests to be independant and do their own cooking/shopping/cleaning/getting around. We have two young dogs who need walking daily and some training in the backyard. As a single parent, some help with the house and garden tasks would be nice. People staying for longer can join me with the garden chores such as mowing, coppicing, pruning... depending on the season.
Sometimes some general maintenance and DIY such as painting need doing. In the summer months we will be travelling and are looking for a house/petsitter (preferably with a driver's license).

As it was my first workaway experience, I was quite nervous in the beginning, but Anne showed a lot of interest in me as a person and gave me some great advice and confidence for my next journeys.

I traveled together with Nour who had stayed with Anne before.
Anne welcomed us in her home and made us feel very comfortable. The place was really nice and Anne gave us a lot of free time, so we got to explore the area, visit several cities (all extremely beautiful) and go on a few day trips.… read more

From the very first day she made me feel welcome and at home. The location is perfect: her house is on a hill not too far from Leuven (10 minutes by bike), surrounded by peaceful nature (a big woodland garden and open fields).
Anne is kind, open-minded, and very… read more
