Description
Hello, I'm an architect living in Asti, a charming town in the wine region of Piedmont, Italy. My family of origin owns a country house dating back to the XVIIIth century with a park around, few minutes away from the city, in a village called Cossombrato. It has been our summer house for many decades, where all the good memories of my childhood and my kids' and their cousins' childhood rest. In the past years we haven't been there in the summer and it's starting to look a bit ...decadent, although always attractive. My daughter holds some of her yoga lessons and retreats there, and I call it my "Tara" (ever read Gone with the Wind?). This summer I'm planning to stay there with my dog Gap to start getting rid of some of the stuff inside (furniture, things, books etc) to make room for potential new ideas. On and off my sister Cristiana and my kids - Giulia 32 yo and Dado 31 yo might be there, but I'll be the one steadily on site. We're all well traveled, speak good English and we enjoy people's company.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We're used to hosting people from different cultures, because we love learning and sharing. My daughter and I were exchange students in our teens and since then we've kept friends from many places around the world. My son spent a year as a backpacker in Australia. He now lives in Turin, great city nearby. I'll be happy to show local community activities and to tell about what's there to visit in the area. We're just an hour away from the Riviera and the Alps.

Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.

Help
I substantially need manual labor. I'll need to move staff around, to drive to the dump, to decide what to keep and what to get rid of. Also, cleaning up, once the rooms are empty and maybe painting them. Somebody who knows how to fix i.e. windows handlesm, light fixtures are welcome but not a must.
I'll definitely be doing tasks together and sharing skills along the way.

Accommodation
There are bedrooms with single or double beds available. Food: I'll provide food and I can cook, but if someone loves to cook they're welcome to help and/or cook themselves. There's also a barbecue in the garden. The house is comfortable and welcoming, it's inside the village, not isolated, and has a great view.
There will be 3 shared meals provided by the host (me). Breakfast will be Italia: sweets, yogourts, fruit, biscuits and beverages like tea, coffee etc.
In case I can't be there for lunch/dinner, I'll provide and leave food and ingredients in the house. Whoever likes to cook can help but of course it's not a must.
What else ...
There are buses at least twice a day to/from Asti and from there you can travel by train. This said, if you have a car moving around would be easier. There's parking inside the property.
